In Duffy's Jacket the author foreshadows some parts of the story. For example, when they are in the room hiding Andrew sees the creature turn back towards the house and while he is coming up stairs they hear "thump, thump, thump". Once the man comes up stairs he isn't scary at all and gives Duffy his jacket back.

In the story of Duffy's jacket they foreshadow a lot on the topic of the sentinel and the children's panic about the sentinel. The story discuses how the sentinel looks and moves by foreshadowing, an example from the story is, " Thump. Thump. Thump. It was getting closer. Thump. Thump. Thump. It was outside the door. Knock ,Knock." This example from the story is the author using the narrator to foreshadow on how the characters feel and what they hear which causes readers panic, this is the rising action. This leads to the climax which is when the sentinel finds the children. Another example from the story is when Andrew finds "BEWARE THE SENTINEL" scratched into the wall of the cabin, this caused Andrew and the readers panic of what could happen next, but instead of putting the highest point of panic and fear there the author keeps the the readers fear and panic of the characters to the very last stretch until the story reached its climax. This example of foreshadowing is the author trying to cause panic in the readers to make them more interested in the characters. These are the examples of foreshadowing I saw in the story .

In the story Duffy's jacket the author foreshadows the sentinel and how the children would find out its real, and will be face to face with it later on. Duffy's cousin Andrew ( the narrator) finds writing on the barn wall
" BEWARE THE SENTINEL" . This alerted the narrator ( Andrew) to look out and avoid the sentinel at all costs. They will also find out why the sentinel was looking for them this whole time.

In the story Duffy's jacket the Author uses the narrator foreshadows a couple of times here is one example of the narrator foreshadowing. When the monster was coming the narrator noticed that the monster had Duffy's jacket and it was tracking them down like some sort of "Giant bloodhound". So because of the jacket the monster or giant bloodhound knew exactly where they were. Another foreshadowing example is When the sign that reads "BEWARE THE SENTINAL". This sign would show itself later in the story and maybe create the rising action. Those are my two examples of foreshadowing.

In the story, "Duffy's Jacket", there were many mentions of foreshadowing by the author. The first example of foreshadowing was when the children went back from a hike in the woods and were exploring the house which then Andrew saw, "BEWARE THE SENTINEL" engraved on the cabin walls in big black letters. When the narrator (Andrew) told their mother. She didn't believe him and accused him of sabotaging the trip. The author managed to use the narrator to foreshadow the event, and instill fear in other characters such as Andrew's little sister, Marie.

An example of foreshadowing in "Duffy's Jacket" is when Andrew's mom and aunt left to get supplies from town, which was about 20 miles away. If they were to go that far away from their kids, who are staying at the cabin, at night, in the woods, all alone (or so they thought), nothing good could possibly happen. Before Andrew's mom and aunt leave, however, we have another example of foreshadowing. That would be when Andrew found the words "BEWARE THE SENTINEL" scrawled on the wall of the cabin. This would cause the readers to sense that something troubling is coming up ahead. These are some of the examples of foreshadowing that I saw.

An example of this was when the author says "I had other things on my mind like the fact that I was convinced someone had been following us while we were in the woods". This causes the readers to sense that some kind of conflict is going to come up within the next few pages. This is later confirmed when a character referred to as the Sentinel shows up to the cabin to return Duffy's jacket soon after the Children's moms leave to town.

In the story Duffy's Jacket, there are many indications of what might happen later in the story or as you might call, foreshadows. For example, in the story the author foreshadows by giving clues such as "It was late because we had lost an hour to get Duffy's suitcase." This is an indication of what will happen later in the story because in the end a sentinel gives him back his jacket. We already know that Duffy is very forgetful which makes sense at the ending.

In the story, "Duffy's Jacket", there was a foreshadow that the author indicated, the author shows that the characters found a message on the wall saying, "BEWARE THE SENTINEL". This message shows that there is something known as a sentinel crawling around the house and that the characters should be aware of it. Shortly after the kids are left home alone at night, they hear something scratching and thumping the door, the main character remembers the message that was on the wall and predicts that the scratching and thumping can be the sentinel coming to kill them. This part of the story indicates the conflict of the story.

The author was creating suspense for the read to know know how they were feeling at that moment. That is one example of foreshadowing in that story.

An example of foreshadowing in the story "Duffy's Jacket", was when the author uses key words, like spooky for example. Then, the author says that when Andrew finds the words "BEWARE THE SENTINEL", it gives the story a spooky vibe and foreshadows that there might be an encounter with a beast of some sort.

In the text of Duffy's jacket there was a lot of foreshadowing in the text. Such as Andrew for example indicated that the manlike creature would be a sentinel. The text also explains or shows how the sentinel would be compared or similar to a bloodhound because he tracked down Duffy for his sweater. Also to explain how Andrew knew what a sentinel was is because Andrew saw a paper that said BEWARE of the sentinel in big black letters. This was an awareness. In resolution the sentinel was actually something that was trying to return Duffy's sweater but the sentinel was not exactly a nice character.

In the story it foreshadows the children's fear of the Sentinel. There was also a sign that said "BEWARE THE SENTINEL" which shows that there is something lurking around. Later in the story, when the children are left home alone, they hear a scratching, they then run around the house to try to escape what is chasing them. In the end it was really "something" that was trying to return Duffy's sweater.

One example of foreshadowing is when the narrator said in parenthesis "Your ___, Duffy". This was hinting that Duffy was very forgetful and later on in the story they found out it was because of his forgetfulness, they were being tracked by the sentinel.
