Before this was set as an amendment they relied on tariffs which people said was unfair.

This helped immensely because if you had a bigger income then you would have higher taxes so everyone was taxed fairly.

The Senate is made up of two Senators from each state

They are elected by the people and they will serve for 6 years

They have to meet the requirements (30 years old, U.S. citizen for 9 years, and be a resident of the state they plan to run for.)
