This feels unreal. I have known Beth since 2014. I just saw her last week. She was my neighbor and friend. She has guided me through many changes in life. Always treated me like a daughter. Beth spoke so proudly of her grandson, the ultimate builder, the light of her life. Anyone could see she had endless love to give, to her sons, her pup, her kittens, her clients, her friends. I am heartbroken.

Beth was one of kind. She always boosted my confidence as a young manager even though she was 30 years my senior. She was complimentary, supportive and most of all kind. After working together for 11 years, there is a huge hole in my heart. Her notes of support and funny text messages always made my day. She always managed to put a smile on everyone's face. But above all else, the thing I admired most about her was her commitment to her clients. If someone was going through a challenging financial time, she would work on them for free. When someone needed more than she had time for, she would refer them to other therapists to make sure they got the work they needed. She was never worried about herself. In fact, we had to FORCE her to raise her rates so that she could cut back on hours and enjoy time with her grandson. There will never be anyone else like her and I feel blessed and lucky as all hell that I got to have her in my life for the time that I did.

I can't remember how many years I was a client of Beth's because I feel like I always have been. She was the VERY BEST massage therapist I have ever had and after many years of being her client, I thought of her as my friend. I remember her giving me her old punching bag set one time when I was getting into kickboxing and we would always share life stories when I would see her. She was the kind of person who you could tell not only really cared about her clients' well-being, but most importantly, she had a true gift of "healing hands" to share with so many. Those that knew her as a massage therapist knew her catch phrase all too well...she would politely remind you to say to yourself "I love my massage therapist." if she was working on a painful area, etc. -something I have said often throughout the years and will continue to say as a mantra in her honor now that she has left this earthly body. My heart goes out to her family, especially her sons and grandson who she spoke of often. I know she will be missed greatly by those who knew her and I hope her family knows what an impact she made in my life by sharing her gift/calling. RIP Beth. Your Friend, Rachel

I find it so difficult to write about you in the past tense. It was just last week we were talking in the hallway about how you were finally ready to get on my table for your session with me. As you remember, you worked on me a few months ago at your home and when I went to pay you, you refused to accept it. When I objected, you said “Okay, then I will get on your table and we can make it a trade. You really helped my hip the last time you worked on me, I could use some more of that” I was so happy. Not only that I could return the favor, but also the fact that you said that I helped you! I always looked up to you and the words “You helped my hip” coming from YOU were like gold. It was a boost of confidence like no other. There is not enough room to express how amazing you were as a healer, person and friend. I will miss our witty banter back and forth in the hallways, the random “energy hugs” when we both seemed to need them most and that smile that could wipe out a rough day in an instant. I love you and will miss you Beth. May you rest easy and keep watch over us.
-Doug

I have known Beth since 2013 but I have not stopped crying because she was so much more than just my massage therapist. She was a friend and a counselor and a storyteller. We never had a quiet session as we swapped stories about our smart boys and she often consoled me when i felt like my 5 year old was ALWAYS going to be challenging me and pushing my buttons. I believe her words were "let me tell you about my oldest, it does get better, maybe by college." (So witty). There will not be another Beth: funny, smart, humble, a deeply caring soul who once told me after we had our second child that she would drive by and throw diapers on our porch or anything else just to be helpful. Everyone knows her mantra: "I love my massage therapist, she only means me well." I can laugh now just thinking about how she would ask me for the latest Clark story(tales of the trouble he gets into) and proceed to tell me about her boys and her grandson who were kindred spirits. I had just seen her last week and she got me physically ready for a tennis tournament. I won, Beth! I know you were watching. I owe 50% of my game to her because my legs would not have survived. She has been with me through infertility struggles, then having 2 children, athletic challenges, job changes and she has referred people to me and I to her in our separate professions. I cannot believe we wont see her smiling face. We are all forever changed by knowing Beth. I miss you already.
- Tiffany C.

Beth lived with one foot in the energy of the universe, I believe that is why if you put her hands on any sort of device it would go haywire. Man made tech was too rigid for her, but put her hands on a human body and she could work miracles. She showed us what was possible, and she showed us what will never happen again. Not a single person on this earth will ever know her touch, the gentleness of her voice, or the sweetness of her giggle. We sat for hours one day at her kitchen table just going on and on about faith and spirituality I learned so much from her that day. She changed the lives of countless people, she lit up like a Christmas tree when she spoke about her beautiful grandson, she never complained about anything and if she spoke up it must have been something that really shook her to her core. She was my friend and I will miss her dearly.

Kelli

Besides being an incredible healer, she had a lovely and joyful heart. I cannot comprehend her being gone. God must had needed an wonderful Angel and that is why he took her home.

I've known Beth for over four years, and it's no exaggeration to state that I am blessed to have known her. We shared so many stories between us that it feels more like losing a family member than a friend. I loved hearing about her construction projects with her grandson; her pride in her sons and daughters in law; her dog and two cats; her truck camping; her past loves; etc. We often geeked out on health and healing topics. Her care went far beyond simple myofascial body work, and she helped us all by teaching us to chant, "I love my massage therapist" when she was working on sensitive areas.

I once told her, "I bet you wish that you knew what we feel on the table when you work on us -- that way we don't have to tell you when the discomfort is a 9 or a 10" She replied, "I do. I know what your level of discomfort is... you thinking of a number is a good distraction for you while I work it out." She knew that she possessed a tremendous gift, but she was humble in using it for good and always learning more about everything that makes us who we are.

I miss you Beth. Save a seat for me.

-Bryan S

Oh my sweet Beth. I have gone to write something so many times in the past several days and have not been able to find the words. When first moving back home after college and finally working at the front desk in Austin you were always so kind and loving and willing to help out however you could. You would crack a joke every now and then during the few minutes that we get to spend with the therapists before you whisk your client away to help change their lives. It wasn't until I had my knee injury in 2017 that I really got to know your hilarious personality and personal stories as you tried to distract me from the immense amount of pain you were inflicting *Cue your mantra*. I got to see personally the love and care for your clients and those you so openly let into your soul. Growing up in this industry I knew immediately the sheer magical talent I was experiencing. When you put my body back together over several months I continuously praised your work and your response would always be the same-- "I'm just a tool in your toolbelt, helping your body do what it does--heal".

Then becoming assistant manager and eventually manager you were there supporting me and leaving me little notes or texts on the days that I seemed to need them the most. The random "Has anyone told you lately? YOU'RE AMAZING" always found me when I was feeling the most inadequate. You had an ability to always put a smile on my face during every interaction with jokes strung throughout. I always knew the impact you had on everyone you came into contact with but over these last 5 days, speaking with so many of your family, friends, colleagues and clients--it is forever cemented what a shining light you were to so many people.

I'll miss you dearly my friend

Becca

In 2014, after a failed shoulder repair, the physical therapist recommended I see Beth for on-going treatment. I didn't know what to expect, nor did I hold out much hope for any pain relief. Instead, I found not only a caring and beautiful soul who helped me through years of discomfort and a second shoulder surgery, but a new friend.

The sessions were often filled with pain, but even more laughter. So much laughter that both of us frequently ended up in tears. I often wondered if people passing by the door or in the next treatment room could hear us, leaving them to wonder just what was going on in there. One time in particular, Beth instructed me to extend my neck like a turtle poking out his head. Well, if you've seen Austin Powers more than once, you have a good idea of what my reply was. The next 30 minutes was nothing but raucous laughter, swats of discipline, idle threats of complaints and even more laughter. At the end she said she would never ever be able to say that to a client again. And then we laughed some more.

We compared notes on her raising three boys and my raising three girls. We traded stories about crazy cats and idiot dogs. We discussed health and spirituality and the mind body connection. And, me being a romance writer, we talked about love and relationships. Also my bad posture from being hunched over the keyboard for hours on end, but we don't need to go into that.

I'm saddened that Covid took away the opportunity to see her wonderful smile for the past two years, but I will always cherish the one photo I have of her. This one taken after my first book won an award and she instructed me to bring it in so she could see it in person. And what did she want to do in the picture? Give my Rita Award a massage.

I'm sorry you'll never get to read the massage therapist character I have planned, Beth. But I promise to give her all of your best attributes. And of course, what will her clients always chant as she inflicts healing pain upon them? "I love my massage therapist. She only means me well."

My deepest condolences to her family, her friends and all who loved her. May her memory be a blessing.

I have found it very hard to actually write something down and formalize this tremendous loss. I thought if I just didn’t call to schedule another session with this wonderful woman that nothing would change since the last time I said thank you to her and touched her hand. I will always remember what a wonderful and caring person she was and that can never change. Beth was a light of friendship and kindness, a force of love and healing. I feel honored that I really got to know her the last couple of years through our many sessions where we talked throughout about life, health, faith, grandchildren and hiking. I enjoyed her warmth and that she always had a nice story to share about her industrious grandson or about the body and how connected she was to us “patients”. Yes we were not just clients to Beth, more like hurting children that needed her wisdom and fixing. I felt truly blessed to have made it to the top of her cancellation list! And I feel the deep sorrow of not being able to say hello to her, grimace in discomfort during one of her amazing sessions, or tell her that “I love my massage therapist she only has my best interest at heart”. Words really can’t describe how everyone felt about her, but I know that she is aware, looking down on us and wishing us the same peace and beauty that she is now experiencing. Rest in eternal peace dear.
- Bill D.

I am thankful to have had the opportunity to know you for the two years I was at one of the finest establishments I've had the honor of working at.

I’m shocked. I see that this was eight months ago, but the loss is there, now. I worked with Beth, for three and a half years or so. Bright, cheerful, warm hearted, and so intelligent about bodywork and wisdom in life. I had several sessions with her. The measure of a great therapist as Beth cannot be put down into words. Those infinite intangibles she commanded in her practice are part of the exquisite beauty of life that this one magnetic woman shared with the world. Unfathomable was the grace, love, and compassion for humanity that she blessed countless persons with. I shared a life issue and struggle to her that I was going through, unrelated to massage. She revealed to me about her journey with a similar circumstance. I appreciated conversions about the mutual books we read and the collective sense of humor we shared with one another on the topic. I really appreciated her and I’s conversations about it. In massage giving the work is a privilege and a calling, as therapists, it’s how we earn income to be productive members of society. But the relationships of the working therapists in the business are of equal importance, we spend much time in between everything relating and releasing. Beth was an exceptional person to relate with in this capacity. She made those in between times a great daily joy as we all seek to help people with the majesty of this work. This is a much too soon loss. Prayers for the oak haven family and for all who knew and was blessed to be around this amazing woman! Trace Eck
