Foundation : This is the stage you go through in primary school, this is were you learn your basic catching and throwing skills. It is also the early years were you get to grips with the sport, by joining after school clubs/ back to netball for our older generation. This consists of learning the basic skills e.g. throwing catching, the rules of the game, routines, and positioning. This is through basic levels teaching/ coaching through school or youth groups for the young.

Participation : This is the next stage in the sports development triangle, this is the part of the triangle were you are learning to see and connect the basic skills together to carry out a specific movement for example a split landing sprint off and relate it into basic game play. Its the stage of the triangle in which your current skills are developing the strategic knowledge of skills and the overall game play. This level of netball is performed at secondary school thought out the national curriculum spectrum and after school clubs. For the elderly the ‘Back to netball’ is provided but at a higher level of competition with match play. There is also the setting of contingency planning and SMART goal targets for short/long term plans for example making the first team within the club or other clubs. They also still need to have guidance and structure provided by the coach/trainer.

Performance : This is the regional/county level, climbing up the development triangle to carryout the performance level consisting of individuals taking personal responsibility for their actions and the mind set of game play e.g. joining a club at regional/county level and maintaining attendance performing at a higher level of competition against other regional/county areas.

Elite : Professional/national level England player- Once scouted out at regional level the athletes are placed on a pathway to play for England netball. They are coached by specialist coaches and receive 1-2-1 training. They athletes will have gained extensive knowledge and intuition, can plan own movements and set SMART targets short/long term and can also solve problems, self-motivate and maintain an automatically of behavior Elite athletes take full independence on court and do not require has much help or support as the other levels of performance. I would also add that I believe that netball is worthy of being part of the Olympics so boosting the profile and reputation by an increase of interaction with the elite athletes with lower levels within netball again may help enhance this action.
