N2 Krizelle

1. Having self-talk is helpful as it guides me to have internal dialogue that helps me to think deeply on how should i react in certain scenarios both professionally and personally.

2. Something I learnt today was how to reframe my negative thoughts. Reframing negative self-talk will help me maintain emotional well-being, building confidence, and staying effective and compassionate in the classroom—especially when dealing with challenging situations. I will try to shift my self-judgment to self-compassion and problem-solving: For example: "That moment was tough. I did my best, and I’ll try a different strategy tomorrow.”

3. Using self talk before speaking or sharing observations to parents who has a child with challenging behaviour. I will reflect on my own feelings and biases before discussing the child's behavior. Eg., Talking to myself will also help me rehearse how should I describe the child’s behavior using neutral and factual language.

MOST USEFUL TAKEAWAY

-Positive Reframing really stood out to me in today’s session. It reminded me how important it is to treat ourselves with patience, respect, and kindness. Instead of talking negatively to ourselves, making assumptions, or expecting the worst, we can choose to be more understanding and encouraging.

It’s okay to make mistakes — that’s how we learn and grow. Hard times don’t last forever, and we will figure things out. By being kind to ourselves, we can build a more positive and supportive mindset.

SOMETHING NEW I LEARNT

-I've learned about the power of positive self-talk and how valuable it can be in the workplace — not only for supporting our colleagues and parents but most importantly, the children. By applying the MFS care principles, we can respond to challenging situations with greater understanding and self-awareness, starting with being mindful of our own thoughts.

APPLICATION TO MY WORK

-I will respond thoughtfully and avoid negative thoughts when faced with challenging situations. Being empathetic toward parents and understanding their perspectives is something I will always uphold as an educator. Since the heart of MFS Care is empathy, I will ensure that I listen to every parent and collaborate with them to build a positive partnership focused on their child's well-being.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS

-I learned a lot about positive self-talk and its impact on well-being, including its effects on mental health, behavior, and performance.

1 & 2. Changing my mindset (self-talk) - from "This parent is being difficult" to "why is this parent feeling this way? Let me help them." The words we use affect our perception and can help us focus on resolving the problem together. It can also help my mental health, behaviour (how I approach the situation) and performance. Talking to yourself is completely normal - it also gives a strong impact on focus, boost self-esteem and helps tackle everyday tasks. Negative self-talk will backfire - self-blame, self-doubt - contributes to stress, anxiety and burnout.

3. For example, when a parent comes with questions on the child's learning in school, I will not think: "Why is this parent coming with questions? Is he/she doubting what the teachers are doing in school?" I will choose to think: "The parent is concerned about his/her child's learning - it is natural. It is my job to help the parent understand what we do in school and work together for the child's development. I have the professional skills to handle this situation effectively."

This will help calm my nerves and shift my mindset from anxiety to purpose. During the interaction, I will silently tell myself to breathe, stay focused on the facts, and not take things personally. It serves as a reminder for me to listen with empathy and respond thoughtfully. Afterward, instead of dwelling on what went wrong, I use self-talk to reflect constructively—acknowledging that I stayed calm, did my best, and that I’m still growing through these experiences.

(BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE. )

4.

Through the MFS CARE+ I have learnt that positive self-talk is very important in our daily work. It affects how i communicate with colleagues , parents and children. It also helps me with self motivation to go through the day given the lessons/deadlines we have to conduct/complete. This helps me to have a sense of achievement whenever I see the children improve in their learning journey and are able to share this with their family too. I also believes it helps me to emotionally control myself whenever i catch myself having negative thoughts at work. With positive self talk it will help me to remind myself everyday is not a bad day, there will be good moments too.

Something new that i learnt are reframing negative self talk to a positive one. I am able to recognize what are negative thoughts and what steps I can take to turn it into a positive one. If i find myself in a negative self talk i will find a space to calm myself down and check in whether is this self talk valid or I can do better than this? I will refocus by using self motivating words to ensure I'm able to overcome it.

I will apply what i have learnt by acknowledging the situation at hand and having self awareness of my own thoughts. When i can understand my own thoughts and feelings it helps me to know what are the next steps I should take, is it to talk to someone? or do i need to ask for help? I believe as educators it is important to listen to yourself and others as well. When you can help yourself, you will be able to help others too.

1. MOST USEFUL TAKEAWAY
What did you find most useful or impactful from today’s learning? Why?
The most useful takeaway from today’s learning was recognizing the impact of self-talk on my emotional regulation and overall mindset. As a preschool teacher, staying calm and grounded in a busy classroom environment is crucial. Positive self-talk helps me manage stress, maintain patience, and approach situations with a clearer, more constructive mindset.

2. SOMETHING NEW I LEARNT
What is one new idea, concept, or skill you learned today?
I learned how deeply our choice of language, both spoken and internal, affects our emotions, confidence, and relationships. The concept of pausing to evaluate and reframe negative self-talk is new to me, and I now understand how doing so can boost self-confidence and support a more positive and resilient mindset.

3. APPLICATION TO MY WORK
How will you apply what you’ve learned to your role or day-to-day work? (Be as specific as possible.)
In my role as a preschool teacher, I will apply this learning by being more mindful of how I speak to myself, especially during challenging situations. For instance, if I make a mistake or feel overwhelmed, I will pause, reflect, and replace negative thoughts with more positive or balanced ones. I will also model positive self-talk in front of the children such as saying things like “It’s okay to make mistakes, I’ll try again,” to encourage resilience and self-compassion in them too.

1. Most Useful Takeaway

The topic on the power of positivity was particularly impactful for me. I found the video especially insightful, as it highlighted how even simple words of encouragement like “You can do it!” or “You did so well!” can have a significant and lasting effect on someone’s life. It made me realise that I have the ability to create that kind of positive impact too—whether with my colleagues at work or in everyday interactions outside of work. This has inspired me to be more intentional with my words, knowing that a small act of encouragement might help someone stay motivated or even achieve their goals.

2. Something New I learnt

Reframing Negative Thoughts

3. Application to my Work

Today, I learned about the concept of reframing negative thoughts, and I found this topic incredibly useful and relevant to my role. It’s undeniably true that teachers can sometimes feel overwhelmed or stressed in the classroom. Personally, I’ve had moments where challenges in managing children made me question whether teaching is truly for me, or if I’m doing well enough as an educarer. Learning how to reframe these negative thoughts is a valuable tool that I hope to apply moving forward. It reminds me to shift my perspective during tough moments and to be a little kinder and more compassionate toward myself.

4. Additional Comments

I found today’s topic to be very timely and relevant. Webinars like this are incredibly helpful as they allow me to better understand myself—not just on a personal level, but also in my professional roles. Sessions like these provide valuable insights that support both personal growth and workplace well-being.

Most useful takeaway

📍It is important to prioritize self-care as it not only benefits yourself, but also those around you. If you are not emotionally and mentally prepared, it can negatively impact your interactions with others. This is especially crucial for educators, who need to be in a stable and confident state before teaching and guiding others. Taking the time to settle and fix any personal issues before stepping out into the world is a key aspect of self-care. When you are not ready, you may react sensitively towards others, which can lead to conflicts and misunderstandings. Additionally, your actions, reactions, and thoughts can greatly affect your work and decision-making. Being unsettled can also result in anxiety, stress, and depression, which can hinder your ability to effectively communicate and handle situations. On the other hand, when you are settled and ready, you are better equipped to bring positive energy, outlook, and communication skills into your work and interactions. This creates a conducive environment for children and others to thrive in.

Something new I learnt

📍As a new teacher, working for MFS Company, I have found great value in participating in the MFS Care & MFS Care+ sessions. These sessions have taught me various ways to handle difficult situations that may arise in my daily work. It has been a great opportunity for me to learn and grow as a teacher, as well as develop important skills for managing my emotions and dealing with challenges. I have learned the importance of resilience and maintaining a positive attitude, as it can make a difficult situation easier to handle. In both our personal and professional lives, it is crucial to always look at the bright side and strive for a brighter future, especially for the children we are responsible for. But with the help of this session, I was able to make changes in handling difficult situations and create clear path forward to a better outcome.

Application to my work

📍If issues arise during work, it is important for us to maintain our professionalism and integrity to ensure that we have a safe and effective workplace. First, we need to follow the steps on how to respond to these situations and how to cater to the needs of ourselves and others, including the children. We must maintain good communication skills with respect and kindness. Choose to be calm and ask for guidance from your colleagues when in doubt. Give time to heal yourself and your thoughts. Take a break and talk to yourself, reflect, and let the thoughts process your emotions. Be mindful of every decision you make and the words that come out of your mouth; your actions are the most valuable part of the process. Stressors are given; it depends on you how to react and handle them. Apply CARE and reflect on every situation you have. Your reasons are valid when you do it right. Be gentle with yourself, believe in yourself, take time to think and reflect, and allow yourself to be happy and resilient all the time. Pause and think, ask when you need, rest when you’re overwhelmed, but don’t give up. You are capable and you are doing great. Do things one at a time and be patient. Respond with confidence and respect. As an educator, you have a great impact on children’s lives.

Additional comments or questions

N/A

Useful Takeaway:

The learning experience through MFS Care+ was both encouraging and insightful. The positive delivery prompted me to reflect on the fast-paced nature of our daily lives. The yoga techniques introduced were especially helpful in relieving stress and promoting mindfulness.

Something New to Apply:

One key concept that stood out was the importance of self-talk—both positive and negative. The session emphasized focusing on positive thoughts, which can significantly enhance confidence, motivation, and self-esteem, ultimately contributing to improved performance and my overall well-being.

Application to My Work:

Moving forward, I aim to clearly identify my goals and recognize my strengths. I will practice repeating positive affirmations and make a conscious effort to replace negative thoughts with more realistic and optimistic perspectives.
