For me the one that had the most powerful influence on me was our visit to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The museum told a powerful story of the horrific massacre of Jews, by the Nazis during World War II. It teaches us all about how blessed we are to live the way we do; freely and without tyranny. 
The museum highlights the darkness of the past, and allows us as a nation to improve the way we treat and cherish the most simple and common things in life.
I cannot give enough thanks to the Immokalee Foundation and it’s donors for sponsoring this trip it was truly a wonderful experience, thank you!

Vernon-Alondra https://padlet.com/burtcj/Washingtondc2018/wish/242118862 One thing that I enjoyed while going on this trip was going to the house of George Washington. This is my favorite place because this is where the first President of the United States lived. I also saw the inside of the mansion along with understanding Washigton’s day-to-day life. The property was beautiful; the whole property is 8,000 acres! We only saw a small portion of it; but it was rich with history. 
I was able to observe the tomb of George Washington and his wife, Martha. It was somber, but a well made memorial for sucha great American. 
This experience was important because this is where George Washington lived out his years. Also, George Washington is so important to America that it is important to understand his life and the decisions he made. I am so thankful for this trip because it would be impossible for me to go to this place normally. The Washington DC trip really means a lot to me because this was a top destination I wanted to see in my life. I am so happy The Immokalee Foundation made it possible for me!

It really showed the history of Washington DC. I think that since much of the art within the gallery is different and unique, it really opens up peoples minds. This is because it allows people to develop their own interpretation of the art and when people share their ideas with eachother it leads to more perspective This place has importance, not only can it open the eyes of our nation to realizing the importance of self interpretation and opinion but as it also shows us the history and story of our union through art. A massive amount of people have died in different wars, but they all really had one thing in common. All of the soldiers have died so that they can we can keep the American promise of freedom. It was good to see all military members, even those that are unknown, to be honored in such a respectful way. It was my favorite because we learned about the the First Amendment in detail. This amendment promises to us the right to freedom of press. This is an important part of history because it allows people to express our ideas. Not everyone around the world can do this. 
People should be heard to make sure that truth and justice always win. The Newseum made me thankful for those people who put their lives on the line to give us information that we need.

Freedom is not free, you will have to work hard for it. George Washington understood hard work through winter at Valley Forge and being President of the United States. 
I learned a lot of new information such as, George Washington had a wife named Martha and 6 grandchildren. His house had 3 stories and he died in is bed at the age of 67 of a throat infection. Also, after his death Martha never went in that room for the rest of her time. She slept in the attic and died two years later at the age of 70. 
The  views of the Potomac  river are so amazing,  I see why George loved his home so much. It is inportant for people to know how this amazing place came to be because it is true example of the hard work that went into the building of this nation; literally and figuratively.
A lot of people wonder about the Father of our nation, when you come to this place all your questions will be answered.  I thank the Immokalee foundation for helping me go on this trip . The exhibit that focused on the people who experienced the Holocaust, were emotional and educational as well. It showed me the cruelty that is and has gone on in this world. Various people lost their lives because the Hitler and the Nazis decided to have hate in their hearts and blamed the problems of the world on the Jewish people. One of the quotes that really touched me stated “Not even Lucifer could possibly have created a purgatory worse than this.” This quote shows what kind of pain people and their families must have gone through. It taught me how lucky we are to be able to live in a place where we aren’t killed or tortured. I was able to also witness the bravery and strength of the people who were forced to give the pay the ultimate price. I also learned that we should stand up for others and not let people get discriminated against. Furthermore, from this experience I understood that we should learn from this event and make sure to not repeat history. I enjoyed being able to visit such a place like this and learn about the past and what people have gone through. Vernon, Virginia, which was the home of our first president, George Washington. We were given the opportunity to tour inside the house and saw how they experienced their day-to-day lives. After that, we were able to go to an exhibit that showed how Washington went from an officer for the British in the French and Indian War to the first President on the United States. The most important idea I gathered during this event was that George Washington taught the nation how to handle power. He had an opportunity to abuse power but he made the choice to pass it to the people. It was really meaningful to see the memorial tomb, where the late George and Martha Washington lay in peace.
