I learned that most teachers have my same struggle. This is a learning adjustment for all of us. However, serving students is the most important part. I need to be aware of all of my students needs as well as having real and authentic conversations with them. I think it is important for them to understand oppression and privilege as it stands.

I learned about being aware and conscious and making sure to include that in my teaching. Bring in what is happening in the world into my classroom and have the conversations with students that others may be avoiding.

1. The two parts that stood out to me are: (1) the 4 Is of oppression (the video was short yet to the point) and (2) the Community Access Mapping.
2. Conversations, conversations, conversations are how I am going to use the Mikva Challenge (waiting on tomorrow's PD). The Community Access Mapping leads directly into the study of food deserts as a part of systemic racism

- Jonathan Wilson

I feel like the general principles we discussed in the MIKVA PD are necessarily existent in our social justice curriculum. We will have to explicitly address concepts like "oppression" and "justice," so I would say that I would implement those tenets simply by teaching the curriculum to the best of my ability, and by adding in pieces where the curriculum may potentially have blindspots.

- David
