Analysis of ,,In The Park"

In “In the Park”, Gwen Harwood captures the quiet loneliness of a woman whose life has been consumed by motherhood. The poem shows her watching her children play, but instead of joy, there’s a sense of isolation and tiredness. The park, full of movement and life, contrasts with her stillness, highlighting how disconnected she feels from the world around her.

Harwood’s words are simple, but they carry a lot of weight. The mother is described through small actions, like “watching” and staying “silent,” which make her seem invisible. The poem also uses images like “twilight” and “shadows” to hint that her youth and dreams are fading, replaced by endless routines and responsibilities.

Beyond just motherhood, the poem speaks about what society expects from women and the cost of those expectations. It’s not just about raising children—it’s about losing yourself along the way. The slow pace and careful wording of the poem feel like the rhythm of her life: repetitive, quiet, and sometimes lonely. Harwood makes you notice the small, hidden struggles of everyday life and the tension between personal dreams and duty.

The writer effectively builds anticipation for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show by using engaging language, a clear structure, and a teasing tone that keeps the reader interested. From the very beginning, the pun on the word “skinny” immediately grabs attention because it has a double meaning. This makes the reader curious and suggests that the article will give insider information rather than just describe the show itself which creates excitement.

Throughout the article, anticipation is built through the way information is revealed gradually. Instead of explaining everything at once, the writer focuses on small behind the scenes details, such as preparations and rehearsals. This controlled release of information mirrors the build up to the actual fashion show and encourages the reader to keep reading. The use of short sentences and energetic language reflects the fast-paced and glamorous world of fashion, making the event seem exciting and high profile. References to luxury and idealised appearances also contribute to the sense that the show is exclusive and spectacular.

In addition, the writer uses a slightly ironic and conversational tone, acknowledging stereotypes while still highlighting the appeal of the show. This balance makes the article engaging and builds anticipation effectively, presenting the fashion show as an event worth waiting for.

The voice and the use of language in a blog can really influence the reader in many ways First of all blogs are usually written in first person so the writer often says I When I read a blog and I see the writer saying I think or I experienced this I feel like I am listening to a real person and not just reading a boring textbook This makes the text feel more personal and more honest It can make the reader trust the writer more because it sounds like a real opinion and a real story

The language in blogs is often simple and direct and that also changes how I react to it If the writer uses easy words and short sentences I understand it faster and I dont get confused Sometimes bloggers use jokes or sarcasm and that makes the text more interesting and fun to read If the blog is about something serious like education or technology the writer might use more formal words or technical terms That can make the blog sound smarter and more professional but it can also make it harder to read for some people

The tone of the voice is also very important If the writer sounds angry excited or passionate I can feel that emotion while reading For example if the writer asks questions like why are we not talking about this it makes me think more deeply and maybe even agree with them The way they choose their words can push me to see the topic in a certain way even if I didnt notice it at first

Also because blogs are personal the writer can share their own experiences and that makes the message stronger When I read about someones personal story I sometimes feel empathy and I connect to them This emotional connection can change my opinion about the topic So the voice and the language are not just about how the text sounds they actually shape how I understand the message and how I feel about it

In conclusion the voice and language in a blog are very powerfull They can make the reader feel close to the writer they can build trust and they can influence opinions Even small things like word choice or simple phrases can change the whole meaning of the text and that is why they are so important

An advertiser might use a metaphor instead of direct information because metaphors are more emotional and memorable. Instead of simply listing facts about the product, a metaphor makes the audience think and feel something. It creates a stronger visual impact and allows people to associate the product with certain ideas, such as luxury, desire, beauty, or temptation. This can be more persuasive than just giving technical details.

The contrast between jewellery and doughnuts creates a mood that is both playful and critical. Jewellery is usually associated with luxury, elegance, and high value, while doughnuts are ordinary, sweet, and inexpensive. By connecting these two, the poster may create a slightly ironic or humorous mood. It could also suggest temptation, indulgence, or desire, because both jewellery and sweets can symbolize things people crave.

The tone of the poster seems ironic and thought-provoking. It may also feel slightly satirical, especially if it is comparing something expensive and glamorous with something simple like food. The tone encourages the audience to question appearances and think deeper about value and desire.

The poster is probably aimed at young adults or adults, especially those interested in fashion, beauty, or lifestyle products. It could also target consumers who are influenced by visual advertising and social trends. If jewellery is involved, it may be aimed more toward women, but it could also be directed at a broader audience depending on the message.

The images could be seen as metaphors that make implications about gender stereotypes, especially if jewellery is linked mainly to women and sweets are used to suggest temptation or emotional behavior. This might reinforce the stereotype that women are attracted to beauty and luxury items in the same way they are attracted to sweet treats. However, whether it is stereotyping depends on how the images are presented. If both men and women are represented equally, then it may simply be using common cultural associations rather than promoting stereotypes.

1. I think the fictional text feels way more emotional than the advertisement. The ad is probably simple and straight to the point just trying to inform people and convince them. But in Love in the Time of Cholera it feels dramatic and intense Florentino proposes when he thinks he is going to die which is kind of extreme. It doesnt feel calm or normal. The nonfiction text is more practical while this one is all about feelings and panic.

2. Because the text is very dramatic it doesnt feel like something that would really happen in normal life Most people dont propose because they think they are dying. So it kind of makes love look more tragic and desperate. In real life marriage is usually shown as something stable and happy This text makes it look more risky and emotional. It doesnt really follow the normal idea of marriage like in advertisments.

3. The last line about not making him eat eggplant is a bit weird honestly. It almost sounds funny after all the drama But maybe thats the point. Marriage is not only about big romantic moments its also about small everyday things. Advertisments usually show only the perfect side but here we see something more normal and even silly. It makes it feel more real.

4. I think fiction can show deeper ideas about love and marriage because it can be more creative and exagerated. It uses strong emotions and symbols Nonfiction texts like ads usually just try to sell an idea. They dont really go deep into feelings. So I think fiction is better for showing the bigger meaning of marriage not just the surface of it.

Black Panther is more than just a superhero movie. It shows how history and family affect people. T’Challa loses his father and has to learn how to be a king. He is helped by his sister Shuri, and by the Wakandan army. The movie shows the struggle between tradition and modern life. T’Challa wants to protect his people but also deal with justice and revenge.

The villain Erik Killmonger is different from normal villains. He has a personal reason for what he does. He grew up outside Wakanda, and he wants to change things. The movie shows how the past affects the present. Both T’Challa and Erik have fathers who influence them. The story shows that being a hero is not simple. Heroes also have to face pain and history.

Coogler’s films often talk about fathers and inheritance. Movies like Fruitvale Station and Creed also show men dealing with their fathers and their past. Black Panther shows how the past, family, and history shape characters. It also shows how people can learn from ancestors.

The movie also connects to other Marvel movies. It shows that superheroes are human too, and they deal with family problems. Black Panther gives respect to African culture and history. It asks questions about responsibility and what people owe to their communities.

Overall Black Panther is emotional and exciting. It has action, but also meaning. It shows the importance of family, history, and justice. The characters are complex and the story is about more than just fighting.

The text shows that our first reaction can be wrong because the information we see online might be fake or misleading.

The Facebook posts were likely meant to influence people’s opinions and create fear about refugees. This can be seen as political, but it also raises questions about whether spreading false information should be allowed.

It also shows that social media goes beyond borders—what is posted online can affect someone’s life anywhere in the world.

Finally, the focus shifts from the original event to the harm caused by misinformation, making us think more carefully about what is truly important and how refugees are represented.

Homework on Poems

Yes, there are similarities. Both speakers feel cut off from others. In the exile poem, the speaker cannot go home. In Candelaria, the speaker watches a stranger in another building and feels unreachable. The similarity is loneliness. The diffrence is that one is forced exile, the other is everyday distance.

Exile becomes part of identity when you carry the absence of home for years. The poems explore having and not having. The exile speaker has memory but not home. Candelaria's speaker has sight of another person but not connection. Similarity is loss. Diffrence is what exactly is missing.

Both poets use images of separation. The exile poem uses wide empty spaces like deserts and dust. Candelaria uses smaller images like a window, a light turning on, coffee. Same feeling of being on the outside. Diffrence is the scale of emptiness.

The exile speaker is completely removed from their culture. Every person they meet is a stranger. Candelaria's speaker is still inside their own culture but feels invisible anyway. Both fail to connect. One fails because of displacement, the other because of emotional distance.

I have not experienced exile, but I know from family that borders are not just lines. My parents left their home town and still talk about it like a dream. The poems match that feeling, being somewhere else while your mind stays home.

Without cultural context, the emotions are just human: sadness, longing, quiet grief. But identity cannot be separate from space and time. You are made of the places you have lived and the moments you have survived. Exile breaks that link, which is why it hurts so much.
