Special considerations include easy cleaning and furniture easy to get in and out of because the wife has fibromyalgia. In addition, the son's office is located in the living room area so a separation between the two spaces will be needed. They often, 2-3 times a week, entertain family, and they have a dog.

The concept guiding the selections will be comfort and warmth. Specifically, it will be focused on natural light, firm but plush sofas and chairs, warm/natural colors such as brown and jeweled tones with a bit of blue for the husband. In addition, their hobbies of photography and fairy gardening will be emphasized as well as natural oak wood. Fabrics will need to be mid-heavy texture because of the amount of use it will receive and because of the presence of a dog. The blue desired by the husband and the jewel tones wanted by the wife will be found in accessories such as pillows and fairy garden items. The flooring will be laminate for easy up keep and tie into oak ceiling beams (to be added) and the wooden shutters on the palisade windows (to be added).
