What were the government's goals and motivations for entering the war?

The pressure enhanced by the gouvernments of other countries who were actively participating in the war and crtics of Woodrow Wilson neutrality-driven decisions is what drove the U.S to enter the war. The former did so by intenting to form alliances which main goal was to go against the United States and constantly attacking American territory, and the lather by criticizing the presient's inability to show the rest of the world what America was made of.

How did the government manage the war effort on the home front?

The gouvernment pushed the people who stayed on the home front into the battlefield, fighting in a different kind of war. Not in one filled with violence, weapons and death, but one filled with starving soldiers and civilians, unsufficient resources and a world dominated by fear. They didn't want the people to feel safe, they wanted them to feel insecure, as if the only way for the world to get back on track was by each individual contributing a grain of salt in the deplorable state the world was in.

What strategies did they use to gain public support

The U.S utilized patriotism as a way to gain support and condifence of the American population. It has always been a staple of the American culture, so utilizing frases like "They can show their patriotism in no better or more convincing way than by resisting the great temptation of the present price of cotton and helping" and "[...] I want only to remind his employees that their service is absolutely indispensable and is counted on by every man who loves the country and its liberties." just appealed to what the people already felt and tried to explote it for all it was worth.

What were the conditions like for soldiers on the front lines?

The conditions of the soldiers in the front lines was deplorable. The soldiers had very little to eat, an unconfortable place to sleep, and a constant sense of uncertainty.

How did soldiers feel about the war?

The soldiers felt a sense of desesperation towards the war itself, compasion and empathy for the millons of people who were affected by the war, and desgrace for the country which started the entire conflict, Germany. They wanted the war to end, not only because of the distruction and desolation it had brought uppon Europe in its entirety, but to put an end to the suffering of all the homeless, orphans and penniless whom didn't gave any vote or saying in the conflict.

What were their motivations for fighting?

The soldiers faught through the day being completely sustained by hope. Hope that they might be able to see their families again. Hope that the complete and utter destruction the war was causing was gonna stop. Hope that they wouldn't get shot on their head, and that the last thing they were going to see was the lanscape of hell itself.

What challenges did they face?

The soldiers had to face, not only the afromentioned challenges of food, sleep and trying to mantain being alive, but the effects these factors had on their mental health. Living in an arena, full with death, blood and violence, completely and utterly destroyed the mental health of the youth during that time. And that was the biggest challenge.
