Level 1 - Direct Comparison of Sources A and B

E.g. Source A proves that Source B is wrong because they disagree on the status of women in Nazi Germany (CC). On one hand, Source A claims that women are respected and valued in Nazi Germany (Inference of Source A). This can be supported by Source A which states that: "But where would the men’s world be if the smaller world is not secure. The women’s role as transmitter of German culture, guardian or racial purity and supporter of national economic policy is unique" and that "There is nothing nobler for a woman than to be a mother of the sons and daughters of the people" (Evidence of Source A). This suggests that within the Nazi ideology, women are highly regarded for the purposes they serve in terms of their contributions to German traditions and the invaluable support they render to the German males as partners and mother of their children (Explanation of evidence of Source A). In contrast, Source B claims that women do not enjoy much respect and are not valued in Nazi Germany (Inference of Source B). This can be supported by Source B which states that "Women in Nazi Germany found themselves being forced to stay at home. But at home, women were not free to do as they pleased" (Evidence of Source B). This suggests that that women within Nazi Germany are not granted personal rights over how they want to live their lives and that there is a lack of respect towards woman since they are not allowed their right to exercises choices even within their private space (Explanation of evidence of Source B).

When I cross refer source A to source C, Source C tells me that woman are not important in Germany especially the older ones. Source C states ‘He regards her as his natural servant and women in general as merely willing tools of his aims.’ This means women in Nazi Germany are not respected for who they are rather than what they can do for the country. Since source C does not support source A, hence source A is unreliable. And therefore, Source A can not prove that source B is wrong.

When I refer to the provenance of Source A, Source A cannot prove Source B wrong because it was written from a biased point of view. Source A is an excerpt from Hitler's speech to the Nazi Women's Organisation in an attempt to present himself as a benevolent leader and gain more support from the German public. The Source says, "There's nothing nobler for a woman than to be a mother of the sons and daughters of the people." This line validates the women's new role in society, to solely be mothers and wives, and he wants them to feel happy about their new duties and not cause opposition to his rule. This is naturally expected from Hitler, as he wants to secure his rule in Germany and he would obviously try to highlight and fabricate "benefits" of his rule instead of focusing on the negative impact it might have on women, that could cause them to rally against him.

As Source A is unreliable, it cannot be used to prove Source B wrong.

when i cross refer to source A it cannot prove source B wrong as since source A is from hitlers speech on a Nazi Womens Organisation, Hitler’s hidden agenda is to say positive things about the Women’s role in nazi Germany so that the women can support his ideologies. “There is nothing nobler for a woman to be a mother” and “ it is her greatest honour” this shows that Hitler is trying to let the women know that they have a big role to play in Nazi germany and is doing a big favour for their country. He said these in hopes that the women can be loving mothers that raise strong aryan children to fight for hitler’s reich

When I analyze the provenance, the source is an excerpt from Hitler’s speech, made at the 1935 party day to the frauenschaft, the Nazi Women’s Organization. It is only expected for Hitler to praise women in order for women to carry out their role as mothers effectively. The speech states that being a mother is the most noble metier. Hitler aims to encourage the more women to be mothers so that the German populationgrow, which would help the Nazi party to fight in future wars. Since source A is not reliable, source A could not prove that source B is wrong.

When i cross refer to source C, source C contradicts source A. Source C says that older women in Germany are not appreciated once they cannot give birth. Source C states that “older women are no good in Germany. We are no longer capable of bearing children. We have no value to the state. They don’t care for us mothers or grandmothers anymore. We are worn out, discarded.” This means that once women in Germany have done their job as a caretaker they are not wanted anymore. Hence, since Source C does not support Source A, this makes Source A unreliable. Therefore Source A is unable to prove Source B wrong

When I analyse the provenance of Source A, it tells me that Hitler made this speech. The purpose of this speech was to try get rid of the hateful comments that Hitler was a stereotypical person whom believed that women should stay at home and nurture children. Hitler made this speech at the Nazi Women’s organisation as he wanted to show that women was extremely important to the German society and get their support. This means that Source A cannot prove source B wrong because the speech was made by Hitler, and it is more likely to be biased .

When I analyse the provenance of source A, it is an extract of Hitler's speech made at the 1935 Party Day to the Frauenschaft, the Nazi Women organisation. This speech was made to convince that women are respected and valued in nazi germany. source A states that "there is nothing nobler for a woman than to be a mother of sons and daughters and people." This suggest that the role woman play in germany is just as important as they take care of their families. This speech was made by Hitler to encourage women and ensure that the job they are doing is equally as important as males so they would be encouraged to continue carrying out their duties. Since this speech was made by Hitler himself to convince women that their role is meaningful making them feel important and valued. Therefore this source is unreliable since Hitler had an hidden agenda when he made this speech
