Quotation elizabetheaston https://padlet.com/elizabetheaston/vin9l13z428b/wish/229283366 After the death of his best friend, he “might even suffer neurological damage from the shock and high fever” (263-264) directly after the incident. He began to have severe nightmares which caused his social life to steadily decline, for it existed but he was not emotionally attached to it. He broke apart and became worn down after K.’s death, never really getting to fully live his life because the nightmares held him back. This  is equivalent to how a ship can’t complete its journey if it crashes and springs a leak in the middle of the ocean.
“A ship without a harbor is lost a sea.”*Much like how lost and emotionally detached the narrator was without K.

The broken up metal from a ship looks like it has been war torn and severely damaged, and that’s how I feel the narrator is as well.
