I thought it was interesting that they said it depends on your political view. This Article is biased towards Democrats, but it has many interesting polls that they did to see what people think created the American identity. It says that Democrats were about three times as likely to say that America should be made up of many different cultures and backgrounds. While Republicans said that the immigrants should learn to adapt to the American ways.
