The Year 3 students considered the fact that all other year levels at the school had great 'built' playground areas while they had nothing, as an ethical issue and decided to write persuasively to the Principal and P&C to ask that this anomaly be addressed. Groups brainstormed:
- what they wanted an aspirational Yr 3 / 4 playground to look like and contain. 
- arguments for a persuasive letter to be written to school authorities.
After the introduction had been written at a whole class level, groups were given aspects to develop the body of the letter and to write the conclusion.
The whole was put together as a class letter and each student signed it before the letter was copied and sent to the Principal and P & C.
