The great leap forward's major goal was to transform China into a Communist paradise. The Cultural Revolution aimed to industrialize China and provide a new government that was open to Mao's new communist ideas.

The great leap Forward was a major failure it had an estimated thirty million people died of starvation in China. The biggest Famine in history. The cultural Revolution was also a failure, it crippled the economy, ruined millions of lives and threw China into 10 years of turmoil, bloodshed, hunger and stagnation.
