Farid is telling Amir to forget the childhood he had and the way he he had done all of those things. For Amir to say he doesn't want to forget anymore, he's grown substantially. Amir used to never speak or think about his problems. He would push it all away to save him some pain. He realizes now, that he has to remember in order to deal with it all to get past these issues.

Farid wants Amir to accept the fact that he wont have his old life in Afghanistan back so they can focus on what they should be doing now. Amir is no longer a weak person that has nothing to stand up for.

He says forget all the memories and the times he had there. They will just hold him back and keep him from moving on. Its not worth all the pain Amir is having right now when he is in the midst of his life. Amir has grown mentally in astonishing ways, he has become stronger. It takes guts to go back to the place where you grew up at only to see it destroyed. And even more guts to set up a meeting with the Taliban official only to understand that this may get you killed one way or another.

Farid tells Amir to forget it because it won't ever be the same. This shows how Amir has grown because it's what he did. Amir moved on with his life (his life in America) and decided it was easier to leave his past life and his past wrongs behind him. Now that Amir is back, he had to face what he fought hard to forget and Farid realizes that it has impacted him too and he sees he doesn't want to forget anymore.

He wants Amir to forget his childhood and all the bad things that happened. Amir has always tried to find ways around his problems and now he has to face them. Amir can't deal with his own problems so its best for him to forget they ever existed.

Farid tells Amir to forget for multiple reasons. One reason is because it seems like through out the story memories have weighed Amir down such as Hassan's beating in the alley. Then secondly, he tells him to forget is because he wants Amir to move forward or "start a new life". He tells him this because Amir partly came back to Afghanistan to see it and has not liked what he has saw. This was just the "icing on the cake" for all of Amir's problems I guess you could say.

Farid tells Amir to forget it so that it's easier to go on. I think Farid realizes that when Amir continues to remember, it weighs Amir down. Amir says he doesn't want to forget anymore, which shows that his character has changed because he wants to stop forgetting.

Farid told Amir to forget everything that happened in Afghanistan and his house because it makes it easier to let go of the feelings and memories that Amir had there. This would make it easier to let go of all the pain that Amir has grown with since he left Afghanistan. Since he has grown up with so much pain, it just exploded out whenever he came back to his homeland. He's matured much faster than most because of what he had done, so when he saw his old house, it was bittersweet. Because of the fact that it reminded him so much of what he had done, yet it was it also looked completely foreign to him.
