A myth is an imaginary construction ( story, representation, ideas ) which is intended to explain cosmic or social phenomena and above all to found a social practice based on the fundamentalvalues of a community in search of its cohesion. They are mainly legends told from generation to generation, to which there is often a hero in the story. It is also a story that many people know about the narrative. While a heroes is not necessarily fictional, he is a brave, strong person, he risks his life or not to save lives or to assert his ideas. - is admired for his/her outstanding achievements or noble qualities. 
- is a model that people want to imitate 
- battles/ fights against villains/ baddies. 
- risks his/her own life to protect others/ puts his/her own life at risk 
- avoids putting others in danger.

It is quite simple to find such as : George Washington was the man who led the colonists in the American Revolutionary War to win independence from Great Britain. He was the father of the new country and laid the foundation of American democracy. There are still many others like Thomas Jefferson who is the author of the Declaration of Independance, a document which inspires democracies. Major accomplishements during his presidency include the Louisiana Purchase from France in 1803 which doubled the size of America and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. As well as Teodore Roosevelt and Abraham lincoln, who are also heroes, they were even rewarded by being scultured on Mont Rushmore. The qualities required to be considered a hero must be that he is courageous, mentally or physically strong and that he is doing something heroic like saving a life ( doctor, fireman, ... ) or helping save/ improve the country ( police, president, scientist, ... ).
