This song connects directly with the essay because it tells the audience to just be themselves and to "trust thy selves". They say to own up to who you are as a person and speak your mind. Don't base your thinking off somebody else. Stand alone and be heard. Both the essay an the song remind people that their individual voice matters.

Ethos- He uses ethos when he relates to historical figures such as 
Jesus. He says that it is normal to be misunderstood because everyone who has left a legacy was once misunderstood.
