consequences:

A food is basically everything that sustains life. Living beings need to feed themselves, be it animals, plants or other living beings that are not any of those things or even inert elements such as minerals. Without them, all life would die or not even exist.

Water, the basis of life on Earth, began trading on the commodity futures market last Monday, December 7, whose price will now fluctuate like oil, gold and wheat, according to information from CME Group.

Due to the excessive exploitation of this resource by the primary sector, industry, human consumption, as well as climate change, have caused this natural resource that is vital for life to become scarce.

“2 billion people now live in nations plagued by water problems, and nearly two-thirds of the world could face water shortages in just four years,” said CME Group's global head of equity index and alternative investment products. Tim McCourt.

Our planet contains more than a billion trillion liters of H2O, but little of it can be drunk.

More than 97% of the water on Earth is salty. Two-thirds of fresh water is held in glaciers and polar ice caps. Of what remains, most is trapped in the ground or in underground aquifers.

That leaves a minimal fraction available for most living beings.

We have known for some time that the shortage of drinking water threatened to become a serious problem for the entire world.

Nearly one in ten people on the planet – almost 800 million – do not have access to safe sources.

The World Economic Forum and other institutions estimate that by 2030 there will be a 40% higher demand, which the planet will not be able to supply.

That will affect agriculture, which will increase food prices.

And, as geologist Ian Steward points out, it is not difficult to imagine that if a solution is not found soon, the possibility of wars breaking out over fresh water is high.

If you have the possibility of going to your local store, a market or a large store and stock up on fruits and vegetables, it is not a matter of quantity or abundance. Rather the complete opposite. If you can purchase these products, recommended as the basis of a healthy diet and a fundamental part of the Mediterranean diet, it is because you have simply been lucky enough to be born in a part of the world where there is no shortage of these foods.

And, according to a study by the University of Guelph (Canada), if the more than 7 billion inhabitants of the planet wanted and had access to fruits and vegetables, there would not be enough for everyone. Something that does not match the recommendations that indicate that half of our diet should contain fruits and vegetables, 25 percent cereals and the remaining 25 percent proteins, fats and dairy products.

"We simply cannot all adopt a healthy diet under the prevailing global agricultural system. Currently, grains, fats and sugars are produced in excess, while the production of fruits and vegetables and, to a lesser extent, proteins, is not enough to satisfy the nutritional needs of the Earth's population," explains Evan Fraser, one of the authors of the study, which has been published in the journal 'Plos One'.

"Carbohydrates are relatively easy to produce and can feed many people, so grain cultivation in developing countries is prioritized. Developed countries have subsidized grain and corn production for decades to become self-sufficient and establish leadership In addition, they have spent much more money on research and innovation for these crops than for fruits and vegetables. These factors, together with the demand for fat, sugar and salt, result in a global system that is actually overproducing this type of crop. foods," adds Krishna KC, another of the study's authors.

9.8 million inhabitants in 2050

Furthermore, another of the fundamental challenges that must be addressed as soon as possible is how to feed a world population that will reach 9.8 million inhabitants in 2050. “For a growing population, our calculations suggest that the only way to "eating a nutritionally balanced diet, saving land and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is consuming and producing more fruits and vegetables, as well as transitioning to diets high in plant-based proteins," concludes Evan Fraser.

Today, one third of all food produced in the world is wasted. That equates to about 1.3 billion tons of fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, seafood and grains spoiled on the farm, lost, spoiled during distribution or thrown away in supermarkets, restaurants and home kitchens. . It is also enough food to feed, several times over, all the people with malnutrition problems in the world.

But food waste is not just a social or humanitarian concern, but an environmental one. When we waste food, we also waste all the energy and water it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package it. And if food ends up in the landfill and rots, it produces methane, a greenhouse gas even more powerful than carbon dioxide. Food waste generates approximately 8% of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. In the United States alone, the production of lost or wasted food generates the equivalent in greenhouse gas emissions of 43 million cars.

As the world's population continues to grow, our challenge should not be how to grow more food, but rather to feed more people and waste less of what we already produce. Fortunately, there are many actions we can take as consumers that can make a significant difference. Helping those most in need with leftover food, freezing some food, shopping in a planned manner and creating compost to prevent edible waste from ending up in landfills can be simple actions we can take to reduce our emissions.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND I HOPE YOU LIKE MY NICE WORK

The concept of a planet where everyone has access to food and water is an ideal that many strive to achieve. Unfortunately, the reality is far from this vision, as poverty, lack of water, and malnutrition continue to plague numerous regions around the world.

One of the greatest challenges in achieving universal access to food and water is addressing poverty. Poverty often leads to limited resources and insufficient income for individuals and communities to afford nutritious food and clean drinking water. Additionally, lack of infrastructure and inadequate agricultural practices contribute to the scarcity of these essential resources.

Furthermore, the consequences of inadequate access to food and water are severe. Malnutrition can lead to long-term health issues, stunted growth in children, weakened immune systems, and even death. Lack of clean drinking water also increases the risk of waterborne diseases, further exacerbating the challenges faced by communities in need.

Efforts towards eradicating poverty, improving agricultural practices, implementing sustainable water management systems, and promoting education on nutrition are crucial steps towards creating a planet where everyone has access to food and water. Collaborative initiatives involving governments, non-profit organizations, businesses, and individuals are necessary for lasting change.

By addressing these issues comprehensively through innovative solutions and collective action, we can work towards a future where no one suffers from hunger or thirst due to lack of resources or opportunities.

In a world where every individual has immediate access to food and water, we can envision a scenario of global well-being. The eradication of hunger would be one of the primary achievements, eliminating one of humanity's most pressing tragedies. Malnutrition and the associated hardships would become a thing of the past.

This reality would have a substantial impact on socio-economic development. The availability of abundant food and water would allow populations to break free from the constant struggle for survival, fostering economic growth and social progress. People could focus on their education and personal development, contributing to a more skilled and creative workforce.

Furthermore, the elimination of water scarcity could reduce global conflicts and tensions. Many regions currently suffer from disputes over water resources, often leading to geopolitical conflicts. A world with universal access to water could significantly reduce these conflicts and promote international cooperation.

However, it is essential to acknowledge the challenges in achieving this utopian vision. Unequal resource distribution, climate change, and global economic disparities are significant hurdles. Additionally, sustainable resource management would be crucial to ensure their long-term availability.

In conclusion, a world where everyone has access to food and water represents a noble ideal that would lead to a fairer, more prosperous, and peaceful society. Despite the challenges, the pursuit of this vision is worthwhile for the well-being of humanity and the preservation of our planet.

The human species is consuming resources at an increasing speed, and there are many studies that talk about a critical failure of efficiency. If profound changes are not made, it is most likely that the planet will not be able to restore those resources quickly enough, therefore... what would happen if we get to that? Could the Earth recover after such a catastrophe?

It is quite common to see in the news the impact of drought on different crops around the world. Some irrigation systems can cover demand depending on the scale, but in most cases, farmers and ranchers have no choice but to look up and ask for rain.

What about a planet where everyone has access to food and water?

Living on planet where everyone has enough food and water is a dream for many people. That would be great, right? But let´s see what the benefits and consequences could happen if this dream came true.

First of all, a big advantage would be that no one would feel hungry. Everyone would have enough food to eat every day, which would be amazing. Furthermore, if everyone had clean water and healthy food, people´s health would improve. Fewer people would get stick from not having enough food or safe water. Often, fights and conflicts happen because people do not have enough food or water. If everyone has access, there would be fewer fights over these resources.

Secondly, the consequences are that even if we have enough food and water, distributing it fairly would be complicated. Sometimes not everyone gets what they need due to political and logistical problems. If we take it for granted that we will always have food and water, we might not value it. We might waste them or not use them carefully.

In addiction a world where everyone has food and water sounds like an incredible place. Although there would be challenges in how to distribute these resources fairly, the benefits in terms of health, peace and wellbeing are worth it. Working together to achieve this is an important step in making the world a fairer and more sustainable place.

When I imagine a world where everyone has access to food and water, I think of a place where equity and justice are fundamental. Here are some ideas that might come up when considering this scenario:

Global well-being: All the world's inhabitants would have their basic needs covered, which would contribute to greater well-being and health in general. The eradication or significant reduction of malnutrition and diseases related to lack of food and water would be a reality.

Sustainable development: This ideal world would involve a sustainable approach to food production and access to water. Environmentally friendly farming methods would be pursued and sustainable water resource management promoted to ensure that future generations also have access to these vital resources.

Conflict reduction: Food and water shortages have often been a source of conflict throughout history. In a world where everyone has access to these resources, the likelihood of conflicts related to competition for food and water would decrease, fostering peace and stability.

Education and human development: With basic needs met, people would have more opportunities to focus on education and personal development. This could lead to more educated, creative and prosperous societies overall.

Global collaboration: The solution to ensuring everyone has access to food and water would require globally coordinated efforts. This would encourage collaboration between nations and the creation of international policies that address challenges related to food security and water supply.

In short, a world where everyone has access to food and water would conjure up images of equality, prosperity, health and sustainability. This ideal scenario involves overcoming global challenges through collaboration and commitment to practices that benefit all humanity.

When I imagine a world where everyone has access to food and water, I envision a society in which the basic need for nutrition is met for all individuals, regardless of their geographic location, economic status, or any other circumstance.

Mainly, the world's population would enjoy a better state of health, since the availability of nutritious food and drinking water would contribute to the prevention of diseases related to malnutrition and lack of access to water. Also, with basic needs met, more people could access education, as the daily struggle for survival would decrease, allowing a focus on personal and community development.

Overall, a world with universal access to food and water evokes images of health, equity, peace and sustainable development. However, achieving this scenario would require coordinated global efforts, policy changes, technological innovations, and continued commitment from society as a whole.

This situation would address one of the most fundamental challenges faced by humanity, ensuring basic needs are met for all individuals.

Access to basic necessities would contribute to the reduction of poverty and inequality. When everyone has enough to eat and drink, the disparities in living standards between different socioeconomic groups could diminish. Also asociety with universal access to food and water may be better equipped to address environmental issues. When basic needs are met, there may be greater focus on sustainable practices and environmental conservation.

While the concept of a planet where everyone has access to food and water is utopian and has many positive aspects, it's important to acknowledge the challenges involved in achieving such a state.
