I'm so excited that this is my 8th year to teach first grade at Bell Manor! Before that, I had the privilege of doing my student teaching and substituting at Bell Manor. In my classroom, we use a lot of music, art, humor, games, movement, and group work to elevate our learning. There's nothing like watching a kid have an "ah ha" moment! When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my awesome family. My husband/high school sweetheart Jake and I have been married for 10 years now. We have an energetic and absolutely adorable three year old son named Jonah. I am currently pregnant with our second child and am so excited to meet him/her in late March! We also have a quirky dog named Zombie. Something interesting about myself is that I have no hands. When I was an infant, I got a heart-related disease called Kawasaki's disease, which led to gangrene of both hands and of two and a half toes. Doctors had to amputate by the time I was 4 months old. Students are always curious or hesitant around me at first, but they very quickly come to realize that I am a very capable and regular person, and they get used to it! Other than teaching academics, I also want to inspire my students to persevere through challenges, to embrace each other's differences and quirks,  and to keep a positive attitude.
