Social justice is an important topic that can be advocated for in various ways. Within the classroom, we can instill morality and educate students about the different issues that require attention around the world. Whether it be for movements such as Black Lives Matter or in terms of Abortion laws. It is important to ensure that they learn about what is happening and yearn to want to make a change. We can create activities to help them gain a better understanding about these issues as well as maybe organizing protests or watching videos. As well, within our personal actions we can gain better understanding by doing our research and becoming educated in issues that we previously were not knowledgeable and didn't understand, while becoming advocates for others.

The curriculum should focus on the objectively true teaching of history and not the Patriotic American version. This prevents false information and downplayed information to be taught to children. For instance, the truth about Christopher Columbus has still been hidden and sugar-coated for years, and children believe Christopher Columbus discovered the Americans when he did not. Even though it is dark topics, it is the truth and should not be lied about. This also allows our country to have the same knowledge as those in other countries without keeping us in our own historic bubble.

Gay defines culturally responsive teaching as developing the awareness of cultural diversity and including ethnically diverse content in the curriculum. Building learning communities and communicating with ethnically diverse students are an important part of culturally responsive teaching, and it is important for the teacher to use these cultural diversities as an advantage rather than a disadvantage. Misconceptions may stem from the fact that teachers might not know about what a specific ethnic group has contributed to the subject being taught, so it is important for the teacher to be aware of this to provide an optimal learning environment.

Reading through the article the way to prepare for culturally relevant teaching would be to first set off and be aware about the differences that we see in cultures and ethnicities. It is about connecting as one and not pretending there is no set lines. In the article it speaks on involving controversy in a good way rather than looking away from it pretending it does not exist. Building a relationship with the students will help with this way of teaching as it will bond the classroom. Classrooms speak on several different lessons on diversity, making it relevant will help out and help educators learn how to address this.

A way we can promote social justice in our classrooms is by educating our students about social justice issues. By treating everyone with equity to get to the same goal, we bring social justice into schools. this creates a safe and secure environment within the schools. This is also correlated with how schools are treated and funded, if all schools are treated equitably, then all the children, from all the schools, get the attention, funding, and opportunities they deserve. This is because in the end, every school is after the same goal, therefore we should do everything in out power to get each one to that end point.

In order to promote social justice in the classroom, it is important to practice embracing your students and accepting their ideas and different cultures into the lesson. This is important because it helps and teaches students to be culturally aware with the other types of cultures that they may be around. (This can tie back to the idea of stopping only one story being told, which in turn can result in a kinder and more culturally aware lifestyle.)

They often feel isolated and excluded because they don't understand the language that the people around them speak. ELL students need additional academic support since they struggle taking tests in a new language.

Parents should be encouraged to be involved in their child's life. They should know when their child is falling behind in class and how much they have progressed in the classroom. The teacher should talk about the student's achievements with their parents and positive experiences. With positive communication between parents and educators, the student will trust the teacher and be more motivated.

A teacher can promote social justice in their classroom by turning on the news in class since it talks about world issues such as the refugee crisis, gun violence and food insecurity. Then, the teacher can have a class discussion about the topics that came out on the news. The teacher can also bring in guest speakers such as people who work in non profits that serve minorities and the underserved. Social justice can be promoted in campus by hosting donation drives for a charity. Social justice can be promoted with our actions by joining organizations that relate to social justice and volunteering. We can all promote social justice by raising awareness about social justice issues by posting about them on social media and educating ourselves.

The history that is currently being taught in classrooms is biased and attempts to erase the suffering that minorities have gone through.

Culturally relevant pathology is culture. It is our beliefs, language, and values. It is or foundation, what makes us human. When it comes to education, educators are considered the "bridge" in the classroom. Educators serve students on a daily with different cultural backgrounds and the educator makes appropriate linkages between what the student know and do as well as their understanding of the world around them. Educators make the connections. In doing so the educator teaches the student to be culturally aware and in doing so students become respectful towards each others differences.
