"In 1632 William Prynne staked out the most extreme Puritan position, publishing a tirade of over 1000 thousand pages against stage plays, court masques, maypoles, Laudian Church rituals, stained-glass windows, mixed dancing, and other outrages all of which he associated with licentiousness, effeminacy, and the seduction of popish idolatry. For this cultural critique, Prynne was stripped of his academic degrees, ejected from the legal profession, set in the pillory, sentenced to life imprisonment, and had his books burned and his ears cut off." I feel this was very important but at the same time risky especially because of the time period he was in. But when he published these books about going against the most loved things in the country he knew what was going to happen but still risked it because he wanted to have his voice heard which he did before they burned all of his books.

The Revolutionary Era

"Early in the morning on January 30, 1649, Charles Stuart, the dethroned king Charles I, set of across St. James park for his execution, surrounded by a heavy guard. he wore two shirts because the weather was frigid, and he did not want to look as if he were shivering with fear to the thousands who had gathered to watch him be beheaded." I find this funny because after all the important stuff had happened such as him being taken off the throne and sentenced to death he is worried about what the people are gonna think if they see him shivering and he doesn't want them to think of him as a coward in his last moments when in reality they were more worried about seeing his head cut off his body. I feel as if he was worried about the wrong thing.

This reminded me of how I have been playing soccer since i was 8 years old and have been on various teams at different levels. There was this one kid i played with named Jason who was always more worried about how he looked then how he was playing. He would try to fix his hair make sure his socks were at a certain length and make sure that his jersey was tucked in just right. He lost us a game when he was on break away he had out paced the defender but the defend had barely touched him and it forced his right sock to go all the way down his leg and instead of scoring the goal to give us the lead he stopped to fix his sock in the middle of the game. I feel as if he compares to Charles because they were both worried about the wrong thing at the wrong time and if they had been more interested in other things then maybe they would've had different outcomes.

"In 1640 there were no newsbooks, by 1645 there were 755. their format varied, but typically they were eight page cheaply printed pamphlets, issued weekly" i believe this is important because the actual newspaper was so important to spreading news much quicker than any forms previous to this. This invention helped spread important propaganda for things such as war or even campaigning for an office.

When newspaper became very popular news would spread so easily people could get the daily or weekly newspaper which made everything so much easier and more simple to receive news. But my generation we have social media i can see Donald Trump, CNN, Fox News, or any other political account instantly and see what they just posed 30 seconds ago. The newspaper revolutionized how the world got news and it will keep evolving
