An interesting theme I found in Dillard's writing is her frequent mention of death and the inevitability of time. This was very interesting for me because she juxtaposes the hopeless nature of death against the importance for us to take full control over our present reality. The contrast between the current "now" versus the inevitable death created interesting works that showcases the complexities embedded within human nature.

It was interesting to analyze how the motif of light is used to visualize his physical senses. He uses this literary device to explore how light, and in the same manner, his physical senses takes precedence and captures his attention over the reality that he currently experiences. Meursault's frequent mention of light further highlights his disregard for his current reality and how his physical senses are used to bring him joy and comfort, regardless of the situation that surrounds him.
