Basically, after the opposition leader had already bring forward their perspective, it is crucial for me to defend my side again and emphasize the strength of my argument. Then, attack the flaws of the opposition side, mention the parts that they are lacking. And of course, present new arguments as a means to expand the debate

A very distinguished role to play in a debate, as I need to summarize what my side have brought to the table and again, defend the points. Besides that, as the Whip Speaker, I need to zoom out and evaluate the debate as a whole. Lastly, my task is not to bring in new arguments, but to strategically reframe the narrative so that the overall flow of the debate is seen in our favor. In addition, apparently in the video it is said that the Asian Parliamentary Format seem to allow government side to bring new argument, but it is advised that both sides shall only rebut 🦦

Role as Deputy Prime Minister - Dania

As DPM,

I am aware that my job is to defend my teammate’s arguments, respond to attacks from the opposition team and lastly, add new points. First, I have to explain why the arguments my teammate made are absolutely correct and answer the attacks from the opposition team. Then, I need to challenge back the points made by the opposition team in order to show why they (opposition side) are wrong. Also, bring up the remaining new points that my teammate didn’t mention as to make our case stronger. Basically what I ought to do is to help my team, respond to the other side and also keep adding good points to support our position that can helps us to stay dominant in the debate.

As the Deputy Prime Minister, I understand that my role is to defend my teammates by strengthening the arguments presented by my Prime Minister. I also need to respond to the attacks from the opposition side, briefly summarise and rebutting the points made by the leader opposition. In addition, I must present new arguments that are different from my teammate’s but still connected to our main case and add new information, so that our stance becomes stronger and more convincing. Overall, my role is to defending my side, attacking the other side, and present new arguments.

From my understanding, DLO is almost as similar as Deputy Prime Minister(DPM). Deputy position in general has to defend the claim made by our Leader or Prime Minister, attack and respond made by opposite team and form a new argument and present it well. First and foremost, DLO have to identify the Opposition Leader point and give reason why DLO and the Opposition Leader are on the same page. Next, this is where DLO and DPM is differ. The DPM has to respond and rebut claim made by Opposition Leader while DLO has to do the same but towards Government Deputy, which is DPM. Lastly, DLO has to make new argument to strengthen claim and reason. However, all the arguments must be connected to the presented point.

My role as the DPM is to defend my team's argument by identifying the points made by the opposition team and emphasize more on the strength of my argument. Other than that, I also need to rebuttal the opposition team by exposing flaws and inaccuracies in their argument. Lastly, as the DPO, I need to present a new argument to support my case.

As the Prime Minister, I understand that I have 3 main roles. The first one is that I need to give clear explanation of what we are going to talk about, this include defining some of the context so that it will give more clarity on the subject matter. I also need to talk about why we chose the issue and the relevancy of the issue in this generation. The second thing I need to do is present my team's position and my team's case. This means that i have to clarify what side we are standing on and what our opinion or our believe is on the subject matter. I also need to briefly explain about what I am going to talk about as well as what my team is going to talk about to prevent any misunderstanding and explaining how we going to implement the policy. Lastly, I need to present my argument, emphasizing on why it's important and summarize the whole thing.

Role as Deputy Opposition Leader and Opposition Whip Speaker - Maisarah Nadiah

As what I have learned, my role as the Deputy Opposition Leader is to stand beside my team to defend our case and attack the case on the other side by giving extra arguments, making our stand clearer, and replying to the Government’s points to show their weaknesses on their case.

My role as the opposition whip speaker is to summarize and defend our case, prioritize issues in debate, and analyze and rebut issues by explaining the main clashes, comparing both sides fairly, and proving why the Opposition’s arguments are stronger overall, without bringing in new points.

From what i have oberserved, the role of Deputy Opposition Leader is to strengthen our team’s case. I have to respond directly to the Deputy Prime Minister by challenging and rebutting their arguments with clear reasoning and evidence. At the same time, I must defend the points raised by the Leader of Oppostion which showing why our position remains logical and consistent. Furthermore, i also need to extend the debate by presenting new arguments that add more depth to opposition’s stance. To achieve that, my speech must be organized, persuasive, and sharp so the judges can clearly see the weaknesses in the government’s case. Therefore, maintaining a balance between defense and attack is essential to ensure that the opposition stays strong throughout the debate.

My role is Prime Minister. As Prime Minister, I am the first speaker for the Government side. My job is to explain the topic clearly, give simple definitions, and set the background so everyone understands what we are debating. I also need to show our team’s position and give a brief outline of what I will say and what my teammates will add later. Most importantly, I present my own arguments with examples and explain why they are important. In short, my role is to start the debate clearly and build a strong base for my team.

Prime Minister - Adib Sigma

The PM will decides what the debate will be about by defining the motion and giving clear parameters. In my opinion, PM is the architect of the Government case. If they build a solid foundation with fair definitions, a clear model, and persuasive arguments the rest of the team can build on it. But if the PM is shaky, the whole bench collapses, no matter how strong the later speakers are.

As the Leader of Opposition, my role is to challenge the case presented by the Prime Minister. First, I will respond to the definition and clarify any parts that may unfairly frame the debate. Then, I will present my side’s position, showing why the government’s proposal is unnecessary or harmful. I will also directly rebut the Prime Minister’s main arguments, pointing out flaws and weaknesses. In addition, I will provide at least one or two strong arguments that support the opposition stance. Overall, my duty is to show why the government’s case does not stand and why the opposition’s perspective is stronger.

As the leader of opposition, I have four role which is to respond to the definition and setup, to presenting my case and my position, rebuting the case of the Prime Minister and lastly, presenting 1 or 2 arguments.

For my first role is I need to adress how I and the Prime Minister aproach the problem whether agree or disagree. I can agree or disagree with the context of the Prime Minister but then I can agree or disagree next because we need a common ground. Next, I need to present my position and my case with how I approach the case whether I agree or disagree. Thirdly, I need to response the speaker before me which is the Prime Minister. So, I need to rebuttal to the arguments. Finally, I need to present constructive arguments with the team case. I understand that I need to be very responsive and be able to change and adapt to the arguments as a opposition leader.

As the Government Whip, my role is to deliver the closing speech for the government side. I need to summarize and strengthen the main arguments presented by my team throughout the debate. It is also my responsibility to respond to the opposition’s points by showing why their arguments are weak or less convincing. I do not introduce new arguments, but I reinforce the existing ones with clarity and emphasis. My main goal is to leave the judges with a strong final impression of why the government side should win the debate.

As the Leader of the Opposition, my role is to represent the first speaker on the opposition bench and to provide a clear and critical response to the case presented by the Prime Minister. I begin by addressing the definition and setup given by the government side. I may agree or disagree with how the Prime Minister has framed the motion, but it is important to find common ground so the debate remains fair and focused. After establishing this, I present my team’s stance and explain how we approach the issue—whether we fully reject the motion or propose a better alternative. I then move on to rebutting the arguments made by the Prime Minister, identifying weaknesses, challenging assumptions, and showing why their case is flawed or harmful. Finally, I deliver one or two constructive arguments that support our position and strengthen the opposition bench. As the opposition leader, I must be clear, logical, and responsive—ready to adapt to the flow of the debate and ensure that my team offers a strong and reasoned challenge to the government’s case.

The opposition whip speaker has a really important role in the debate. Basically, my job is to summarize and defend my team’s case and making sure our stance is clear and strong. I also need to point out and prioritize the main issues so the judge can see which arguments really matter and why our side should win. On top of that, I have to analyze and rebut the government’s points by showing why their arguments are weaker. In short, my role is to pull everything together, highlight our strongest arguments, take down the other side’s case and convince the judges that the opposition deserves the win.

As the Opposition Whip Speaker, I have three main roles in this debate. First, to summarize and defend the arguments of the Opposition team. Meaning that I need to go back to the points that my teammates have already presented and show that they are still valid even after the Goverment had tried to weaken them.

Next, summarize and prioritize the main issue in the debate. This time, I need to identify which one is the most important clashes between Goverment and Opposition team. After that, I need to explain why these issues are more significant issue and why Opposition side need to won with that clashes issue.

Last, my third role is to analyse and rebut the issue rises by the Goverment. I have to look at their arguments and point out the weaknesses. Then, explain why their side fails to prove the motion. At the same time, I also need to tell why Opposition side is more convincing.

ROLE: PRIME MINISTER

As the Prime Minister, there three things that important for me as a Prime Minister. Firstly, I have to lay out the topic to them or by define the topic for my team easily understand what is the topic about by give issue and solution to that issue.

Secondly, i have to give what are the direction of my team whether to agree or not to that topic or our position. Furthermore, I must give clarity how the solution can be applied to solve and the plan to that issues. Also give the reason why it should be implemented by that way.

thirdly, I have to emphasize and summarize my talk by establish our direction so that I must give a solid foundation for the arguement.

-The Whip speaker’s job is to sort out the mess that happens.

-There are three parts of a Whip speaker’s speech, which are ‘briefly summarise and defend the case’, ‘summarise and prioritise issues in debate’, and ‘analyse and rebut issues’.

-First of all, briefly summarise and defend the case. This helps to give the judges and the audience a little bit of clarity. It should take about a minute or less.

-Secondly, summarise and prioritise issues in the debate. This means that I need to identify the most important points in the debate.

-Thirdly, I should rebut and analyse the issues. I must show why our argumentation on the issue is better than the argumentation from the opposition. To do this, I can provide new rebuttals to arguments, new examples, or even new analysis to rebuttals. However, I cannot provide a new argument.

As the Whip Speaker, my role is to summarize the debate. I don’t bring in new arguments, but instead I rebuild our team’s points, highlight our strongest points, and show why we’ve won compared to the opposition team. I also point out weaknesses in their arguments and make the overall debate clear for the judges

As the prime minister, my first role is to define and setup the debate, which means that I need to tell everyone how we are going to define the topic and how we are going to use this topic in this debate. At this point, it usually is a straight up definition but sometimes it can be worded if additional clarification is need. This to prevent confusion and give clarity about the topic that will be discussed. I also need to setup the debate which means I need to give people the context or the background of the issue.

Secondly, I need to present team's position and case. The position is how are we going to approach this debate which basically means what are we trying to prove to the people. Presenting the case means the arguments of the team. For example, telling people what I am going to talk about and what second speaker will talk about. This is to give more understanding to the other team, judge and audience.

Finally, I need to make 1 or 2 argument. For example give the first reason and the second reason. And then, summarise and close the speech and empahsize the important things.

from my findings, my role as the deputy leader of opposition includes to support the leader of oppositions, respond to government arguments, and strengthen the opposition's case. this is a very heavy role to take on, but i believe it will be a great experience for me as it challenges me as a person and as a speaker.

my primary duty as a deputy leader of opposition is to carefully respond to the deputy prime minister's speech. i would have to point out weaknesses, flaws, contradictions, or logical gaps in the government's arguments, and ensure that the opposition case remains stronger and more persuasive. if, however, the deputy prime minister has attacked or undermined the leader of opposition's case, it is my job to defend and rebuild it. it is also my responsibility to make sure the opposition's case is cohesive, structured, and sound even after the government's attacks.

First, I need to summarize the debate through rebuttal and comparison. I will have to recap the main clashes in the debate, and show how our team has won those clashes.

Second, I need to explain why some arguments are more important than others. I have to use principles like probability and relevance to show our side is stronger.

Third, I have to tie everything into a clear statement of why our team should win.

Basically, my role is to emphasize why the government's proposal fails, to show why opposition's principles outweigh government's, and to frame government's case as inconsistent or insufficient.

As the Deputy Prime Minister, my role is to stand as the second line of defense for the Government, to strengthen and extend the case set by the Prime Minister, and to systematically dismantle the Opposition’s main arguments. I aim to clarify our stance, reinforce our logic with stronger reasoning, and push the debate forward with new insights and evidence.
