         <description><![CDATA[<div>This annotation is good but in hindsight I would change up the wording. Instead of saying "and actually does the opposite of what the man would want" I would say "Zeus actually defies the wishes of Odysseus and does something that would make his situation harder." I would also include something describing how Odysseus has got even more bad luck; Zeus won't even answer his wishes which is surprising knowing he has been in favor of Odysseus many times before.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The gods played a huge role in the lives of mortals. In the epic we see many, many examples of how the gods have interacted with people, as you can see with my annotations in this project. Homer wanted to instill in us how much the gods influenced the story and the lives of the people in the story. This key element really made the story great to read since we got to see how much the gods could change the course of the story. In the end, it is very clear that without the gods the epic would not be the same and the gods had a huge influence on the lives of the people.</title>
