WEAKNESSES:
The Americans were very unequipped, that goes for most anything, clothing, food, guns, ammo, funding, you name it.
The Americans also were inexperienced when it came to firing artillery and in naval battles.
Also the militia was also inexperienced, they trained only around 1-3 times a year and it was made of ordinary people.
And lastly there were not that many, the highest amount of american soldiers in one area throughout the whole war was merely 17,000.
STRENGTHS:
The strengths of the americans were the patriotism and the enthusiasm as oppose to the british's nonchalant of the war.
Also they had great commanders as the british were indecisive and did not know what they were doing.
And lastly, the french helped the Americans because they hated the british due to the loss of the french and indian war and other forms of mistreatment.

Below is a picture of what represents the fact that the americans were not funded well. Some had to walk through snow with no shoes and bloody feet to escape a battle or something along those lines.
