In the text of Act 1 of The Crucible, we see the fall of Abigail into the deep abyss in which jealousy. We begin to see her fully understand the position in which her and the other girls from the village are in. We see how Abigail and the girls take advantage of their situation and begin accusing those we have done them wrong of witchcraft. The full act gives a detail inlay on how this starts to unfold with great detail showing how just a little pinch of jealousy may ultimately lead to the demise of many. The theme of jealousy is very dominant through out the rest of the book but the main purpose of the theme being explained here is that this is where everything begins and will ultimately bring about the end.

Song: Dead leaves and the dirty ground by The White Stripes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ovPMY041h4

In the text of Act 2 of The Crucible, there is a clear sight of how the town of Salem is binding together in order to complete these "witch hunts". The people in this mob are those who see that others are being persecuted for the crime of "witchery" and follows the flow and joins the others attacking these people. A great example of such a person is Reverend Paris, he is seen in Act 1 trying to avoid conflict but in Act 2 is now thrusting himself straight into it, serving as almost a leader for the mob. This turn of events seem ironic due to in the beginning he was the one who discovered the girls dancing in the woods, but due to the extreme persecution surrounding "witch craft" in Salem he decided to band with the community and falsely attack those he knows have not committed such a crime.

"White Privilege II"
(with Ryan Lewis)

Pulled into the parking lot, parked it
Zipped up my parka, joined the procession of marchers
In my head like, "Is this awkward, should I even be here marching?"
Thinking if they can't, how can I breathe?
Thinking that they chant, what do I sing?
I want to take a stance cause we are not free
And then I thought about it, we are not we
Am I in the outside looking in, or am I in the inside looking out?
Is it my place to give my two cents
Or should I stand on the side and shut my mouth?

In the text of Act 3 of The Crucible, we see the contrast of peoples personalities as the "witch" trials continue on. Abigail Proctor is a undeniable example of this due to she, in public, is viewed as a helpless young girl who in which is terrorized by "spirits" of those who are "witches". These traits of Abigail are completely reversed in reality as she is actually a "snake" due to she is a revengeful, crazy, and jealous girl who in return sends many people to their deaths all through her imagination of "feelings" John Proctor has for her.

Secrets

OneRepublic

I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
Til' all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink, so

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

My God, amazing how we got this far
It's like we're chasing all those stars
Who's driving shiny big black cars
And everyday I see the news
All the problems that we could solve
And when a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Send it straight to gold

In the text of Act 4 of The Crucible, it is clear of how evil and despicable of an action that Abigail committed on the town of Salem. She has set up many of the citizens demise all through the hatred and thirst for revenge that she has for John Proctor. Abigail has the mentality that since she can not woo John that no one is safe from her wrath of hate. She ends her reign with that of fleeing but not before she accuses John Proctor of being an advocate of the devil. He is sentenced to hang due to the greed, hate, and jealously of a young girl. All the death in the text could have been completely avoided if Abigail hadn't sought out revenge on Proctor for being with Goody instead of her. Her hatred has brought the town of Salem to its knees as friends and neighbors have sent each other to the gallows just on the lie of a young girl in delusional love.

"Coward of the county"
by: Kenny Rodgers

Everyone considered him the coward of the county
He'd never stood one single time to prove the county wrong
His mama named him Tommy, but folks just called him yellow
Something always told me they were reading Tommy wrong

He was only ten years old when his daddy died in prison
I looked after Tommy, 'cause he was my brother's son
I still recall the final words my brother said to Tommy
"Son, my life is over, but yours has just begun"

"Promise me, son, not to do the things I've done
Walk away from trouble if you can
It won't mean you're weak if you turn the other cheek
I hope you're old enough to understand
Son, you don't have to fight to be a man"

There's someone for everyone, and Tommy's love was Becky
In her arms, he didn't have to prove he was a man
One day while he was working, the Gatlin boys came calling
They took turns at Becky, n'there was three of them

Tommy opened up the door, and saw his Becky crying
The torn dress, the shattered look was more than he could stand
He reached above the fireplace, and took down his daddy's picture
As the tears fell on his daddy's face, he heard these words again

"Promise me, son, not to do the things I've done
Walk away from trouble if you can
Now, it won't mean you're weak if you turn the other cheek
I hope you're old enough to understand
Son, you don't have to fight to be a man"

The Gatlin boys just laughed at him when he walked into the barroom
One of them got up and met him halfway 'cross the floor
When Tommy turned around they said, "hey look, old yeller's leaving"
But you could've heard a pin drop when Tommy stopped and locked the door

Twenty years of crawling was bottled up inside him
He wasn't holding nothin' back, he let 'em have it all
When Tommy left the barroom, not a Gatlin boy was standing
He said, "this one's for Becky, as he watched the last one fall

"I promised you, Dad, not to do the things you've done
I walk away from trouble when I can
Now please don't think I'm weak, I didn't turn the other cheek
And papa, I sure hope you understand
Sometimes you gotta fight when you're a man"

Everyone considered him the coward of the county
