         <description><![CDATA[<div>Using the word "yet" with my students will help them see that progress CAN be made. When a students now says to me "I can't do it," I can comeback with "not yet..." and help that student set a goal to achieve success. I also think it's important to focus praise on effort rather than, say, innate intelligence or talents because it will help all students work harder and show them that I appreciate all of the hard work they are doing. That's the key to making progress!</div>]]></description>

I will try to intentionally use growth mindset words not just with my students, but with all of those around me. I spend a lot of time with my 2 year old niece, and will begin using growth mindset language with her. I will definitely implement this in the 2020-2021 school year with my second graders. I plan to explicitly teach growth mindset languages, as well as model it throughout the year in all subject areas.</div>]]></description>

Looking back now, I know there are a handful of kids who did awesome in distance learning and could have done do much better face to face that they could have slipped through the cracks and vise-versa.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Our school is going through construction and we will be down to only 2 gyms so it will be huge class sizes combined with huge class sizes.  The implementations I tried the last 2 years in this program will be HUGE.  Allowing choice and the relationship building with all my kids will be a big part.  letting them know and even engaging in activities with them showing that it is ok if you are not the best will be a big part as well.  When I see struggles, asking, "what next, or how can you improve?" will be the next big step for me.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is important because I don't want my students to feel like they are held to an expectation of perfection. I want to make sure that we are always focusing on the progress we are making. I also want to tie this into goal setting and discussing that we have to walk before we run; things aren't going to happen overnight, and that's where our patience and perseverance comes into play. I think we could have super powerful conversations around these ideas of making progress and being intentional with the feedback and words I am using to praise my fourth grade students. </div>]]></description>

I have thought about creating or finding a poster that says, "Progress, not perfection" because I think that would be a helpful reminder for my students and me as we work day in and day out. I would also love to continue to research what type of feedback is most beneficial for students in order to make that progress. </div>]]></description>
