I think reconstruction was not radical enough because there was loopholes to overturn it. They failed free slaves from being persecuted and the effect of that was just another form of slavery in the prison system.

Reconstruction was an attempt at building and mending relationships with the black community, but because rules were not enforced enough to protect black people violence easily emerged and overcame for a long period of time. Reconstruction in the South was more radical than in the north because they were the losers of the war and were forced suffer most of the grievances. Although, violence emerged it wasn't radical enough because violence emerged when the point was to suppress the violence.

The reconstruction was not radical enough because white southerners still had the same social ideas against African Americans and the changes made were not strongly enforced. Many white southerners still saw African Americans as inferior to them. Radical changes such as removing confederates from political power eventually failed. When former confederates gained political power in the south they made it harder for African Americans to vote. They had many requirements that African Americans couldn't meet because of lack of education. This was a loophole they saw that denied African Americans from their right to vote.

i think reconstruction was not radical enough. in certain situations they were radical but in other aspects like that black codes, the kkk, and more couldve used more action to stop. and it seemed like johnson only went with it to keep people on his side because he was racist, stubborn and more.

Although the construction was a huge step in the right direction, I find that the reconstruction was still not enough justice for colored people. Yes they were given suffrage but on the other hand people found ways to make sure they didn't vote. Sure they were given human rights yet people still didnt treat them like humans, and yes they were freed but this was just for the south to still thrive off of taking advantage of colored people
