I like that someone mentioned flipped learning as a way to provide more opportunities for inquiry. And the example of grammar (sentence structures) makes me think about form, meaning and use. Grammar is fascinating, e.g, how words are strung together for effect :) - worth going deeper.

To start IBL, the structured inquiry (teacher modeling the process) is important before moving to controlled, guided and free inquiry. To make it happen, give choices within controlled inquiry. More questions and independent learning while applying skills and knowledge taught. Learners of slower progression will need much structure and guidance within controlled inquiry. For guided inquiry, we will see the ability of students apply their knowledge and skills of media literacy as they navigate the web for information.

I think IBL is important in today's context. Students are exposed to a lot more than what the teacher could offer them. Sharing useful information and platforms to students will allow students to explore their ideas, promote sharing culture among students and allow students to read and gain knowledge extensively. This is in line to the release of responsibility as it is shifted to the students, thus the onus is on them to explore more so that they would find out more.
Zarinah HGP
