         <description><![CDATA[<div>Taxes were put on the colonist by the British government on all paper products to include legal documents, newspapers, playing cards and more. This happened in 1765 throughout all of the 13 colonies. These taxes help pay back the British government for the French and Indian War.  The colonist were very upset about these taxes. </div>]]></description>

Then they did one to protect British officials who are accused with crime in the colonies. After that law the next one said that British Soldiers could be housed in the colonists homes. The last was to give an area of land west of the 13 colonies to Quebec.<br>When: 1774<br>Where: Massachusetts<br>Why: So Britain could punish the colonists.<br>How: This pushed the colonist toward war with Great Britain.    </div>]]></description>
