“Look, those little chalk figures. They were here a couple of days ago too, nearer the sidewalk. The rain washed them away, but their back, and they’ve moved. They weren’t here when I left on my run” (Jackson 109-110).
In this quote, Pip finally shares her concern about the chalk figures with her mom. This quote not only builds suspense for readers as they wonder who could possibly be drawing these figures, but creates a turning point for readers as they discover along with Pip that the chalk figures were not a coincidence and that they were put there on purpose by Pip’s stalker to show that they are watching Pip.

“Jason Bell was the DT Killer. The thought was so loud in Pip’s head, louder than the terror” (Jackson 424).
This is the most major turning point in the book. Here readers get their questions and theories answered about who the real DT Killer is. It also leaves readers with a wondering question as to how Jason Bell created and went forward with the massive plan to frame someone else as the DT Killer and have him put in jail. It also leaves readers questioning if Billy Kararas is going to be taken out of jail after being framed, if Jason Bell will now be going to jail, and what Jason is going to do to Pip after having kidnapped her.

“Until nothing moved. Not a twitch in his fingers, or a jerk in his legs. Only a new river, a red one, slowly leaking out of his undone head” (Jackson 477).
Not only is this a turning of events in the story, but it shows Pip’s true character. Some could say she’s a killer and she murdered Jason Bell. Others could say that she was just defending herself and that Jason would have killed her if she hadn’t done that. Either way, it shows that Pip is strong, willing to fight, and she won’t back down in tough life or death situations. This showing of her true charcter would not be possible without this event because there is no situation in which Pip truly needs to fight for her life.

“They were charging Max with Jason’s murder. Her heart beat wing-fast against her ribs, but it wasn’t the terror, it was something else, something closer to hope. It was over, she had won”(814).
This turning of events shows how Ravi and Pip hid their involvement in Jason’s murder and framed Max for it. It was also foreshadowed in the beginning of the book when Max and Pip met to talk about her posts online about him. She was frustrated about him getting their lawyers involved and she kept telling everyone around her that Max needed to be in jail and that he deserved to be in jail. She felt accomplished after he was arrested because even though he was falsely accused for a murder, he was still spending time in jail like she had hoped he would one day.

“She did need the pills, needed them as much as she need sleep. This was her strategy. And at the same time, she knew. She knew he was right, she was making everything worse” (Jackson 63).
This quote reveals Pip’s character. Readers are not expecting Pip to need pills in order to calm herself down. It shows readers just how complex Pip is as a character and how she is good at keeping things private. It also shows just how much her past trauma affects her every day life and how she constantly thinks about it enough for her to have to get medication to be relaxed and back to her normal self.
