In this quote, Pip finally shares her concern about the chalk figures with her mom. This is the most major turning point in the book. Here readers get their questions and theories answered about who the real DT Killer is. It also leaves readers with a wondering question as to how Jason Bell created and went forward with the massive plan to frame someone else as the DT Killer and have him put in jail. Not only is this a turning of events in the story, but it shows Pip’s true character. Some could say she’s a killer and she murdered Jason Bell. Others could say that she was just defending herself and that Jason would have killed her if she hadn’t done that. Either way, it shows that Pip is strong, willing to fight, and she won’t back down in tough life or death situations. This turning of events shows how Ravi and Pip hid their involvement in Jason’s murder and framed Max for it. It was also foreshadowed in the beginning of the book when Max and Pip met to talk about her posts online about him. She was frustrated about him getting their lawyers involved and she kept telling everyone around her that Max needed to be in jail and that he deserved to be in jail. This quote reveals Pip’s character. Readers are not expecting Pip to need pills in order to calm herself down. It shows readers just how complex Pip is as a character and how she is good at keeping things private.
