People have to take ownership of they decisions they make in regards to their participation in public life. It is not difficult to place your phone on flight mode or to put it away, however if you would rather be away from the public situation you are in of course you are going to pull your phone out. Public life is no longer a group of people in a space experiencing unique things together - it has become a place where everyone with access to the internet can also be present in 'unique' experiences, which then become permanently recorded on smartphones. Also, one can be physically present in public life, but mentally absent; connected here, but connected elsewhere too.

Although many people may think the smartphones destroy the communication between each person. However, chatting through phones is a new kind of communication. People can use Facebook to communicate with their friends, they can also comment on some social issues online by using their smartphones, which makes the citizens more focus on their national issues.
