"No matter how uncomfortable you might feel, don't shrink back from difficulties or challenges. Instead, stand strong knowing that God is taking you to new levels in every area of your life." -Unknown
When I came to FSHA I was really quiet and hesitant to open up to so many new people.I found it overwhelming to meet so many new people at once. A plethora of thoughts and stress of which friend group to join cam over me. I did not want to step outside my comfort zone by suddenly joining a friend group, but I did not see any other way to make friends.
Through all my classes I got to know people better. It makes it easier to talk to peers that I share classes with, but it still was not easy. One group of friends that were really friendly and sweet, but was composed of many people. I knew that the size of the group would make it more difficult to start a conversation. But after staying inside my comfort zone for so long I expanded it by being extra friendly toward everyone in the group.
As the semester progressed the group became smaller and smaller. I realized that there was no reason to be afraid of trying to make new friends. By taking a step forward I had grown so much as a person. I never thought that such a difficult situation could transform someone entirely. In this short semester, I have grown exponentially in every way. Simply attempting to expand one area of my life has made every other area of my life easier to get through. I have now developed friends that I fell comfortable around and I don't feel afraid to talk to. One small step outside my comfort zone has lead to many more steps than I ever imagined.
