Also, discuss briefly, what are some personal reasons and evidence to support your claim? (You will be able to USE this again in your writing as your COMMENTARY! YAY!)
* Upon getting a checkmark from me, which shows you have adequately completed the step above, you may begin writing your argumentative essay.

Writing into the Day:
Look over your essay. How many sentences are "commentary" sentences? In what ways did you use commentary and how many times each? Example: 10 commentary sentences; 4 illustrating; 3 extending; 3 countering.
*Now, mark up your paper according to the guide below. Be sure to only highlight the first and last words of the sentence with the appropriate color; by doing this, it gives others an opportunity to put a different color if they see fit.
*After 10 min. with your own paper, have 5 minutes of table talk to discuss what you found in your paper, and ask group members clarifying questions, if needed.
*Now, everyone at your table swap papers with another table. Complete the same highlighting procedure with a peer's paper for 10 min. Then, we will have table talk and time for questions in small group and whole group.

Sometimes, the logical connection, the way in which a fact logically supports a claim, will be clear, possibly so clear that no explanation from the writer is needed.
