in the past most schooling was reserved by boys, girls only received little, nowadays girls & boys follows the same curriculum, but in some schools there are some subjects set aside for girls: cooking , learning how to be a perfect housewife rather than learning how to have their own careers, for boys they had the harder subjects as they are the ones the society expects to work and have high positions.

Society factors, it made the gender gap a norm also it affects how the students can do in school “self-fulfilling prophecy ” that’s made by society , it gives them wrong beliefs that they should do but now the media has changed that giving them another idea that girls are better in education

School factors: in some schools, boy are more advantaged than girls , teachers plays an important role here, where they encourage boys more than girls, nowadays teachers tend to punish boys and send them out of the classroom as they now believe poor study habits & bad behaviors are for boys

Home factors: parents expectations can also turn into self-fulfilling prophecy, years ago parents used to encourage boys more than girls but nowadays they’re encouraging girls more because of social media and how girls continuing their studies is now such a normal thing so she can get a job

The more you pay the better education you get, everyone knows that, poorer students tend to have a self-negating prophecy as they have seen their parents neighborhood so they feel like that’s the only path anyone living on that street is going to be following, they feel like it’s obligatory, on the other side richer students, ever since they were born, they were expected to go to school, university, and after a long time to take over their parents company.

Home factors: lack of money & material for example some can’t financially support their children and pay for all they need for schools & having limited resources “textbooks or access to internet”,and the language differences for example here in kenya there are some who talks swahili, others english and some both, also the swahili differs from place to another in kenya, at some point students tend to mix the languages they know together on the other hand the richer kids have all the money they’d need and materials

School factors: labelling, setting & streaming the working class students according to their predicted ability, the low ability class would always feel less than the other group abilities which may lead to them not taking school seriously, affecting their grades, dropping out of schools, also the teacher would offer less information which may discourage them from trying. on the other hand the teacher are well prepared for teaching the richer children also they have higher expectations on their academic performance

Society factors: The home background it’s known that the working class children are hampered by cultural or material deprivation, , also the low self esteem & low self expectations just because of the place they’re living in, while the poorer kids have all these home “where they live” problems the richer kids are the total opposite, the society treats people depending on how they dress where they live..etc

African people are seen to doing less than all the other groups, ethnicity can’t be separated from gender and class.

Social factors: african-caribbean people in british schools are often from the working class; as when there families arrived as immigrants it was mainly for the working class employment. Also discrimination because of their color as they’re the only black ones , cultural differences between the place the came from & the country they’re currently in.

school factors: racism from schoolmates, teachers may assume that they are unable to do well & label them troublemakers, & may be treated ethnocentric treating the majority as important & ignoring the minority, minority “immigrants students” may taught in a language that’s not theirs

Home factors: suffering from material disadvantages as they’re immigrants working class, this happens in the bu
beginning till they start pushing themselves, working harder for higher positions,
