Overall Thoughts of the Scene Recreations

I do feel that I accomplished the tasks that were given to me; however, I did not really particularly like the group I was with. I don't know, there was just something... off about them. I felt anxious when with them.

Despite that, I feel that the Scene Recreations turned out to be a success.

Peaky Blinders (Scene Recon):

The role I had in the production of the Peaky Blinders recon was DOP (Director of Photography), and I kept calm and collected, pretty much got on with the work, and I got some great shots I was proud of. I do feel I would need more “one-on-one" time with the Blackmagic Cameras to really learn it in more detail. Although, it was very easy to follow. The location was great; however, it was a bit cramped due to the room we were in. The one thing I do wish, however, was that the recreation itself was more faithful to the original scene, but that's more of a personal thing. The actors did do a great job at making it their own.

I was in charge of the offline edit, which was cutting the scene together. I am still getting used to Avid Media Composer. However, it is easy once you know what you are doing; thank goodness for the tutorials on Canvas and YouTube.

Line of Duty (Scene Recon):

The role I had for this recreation was Boom Operator, and this was very straightforward compared to the previous recreation. This time we were in the studio in college; this was a very big space and well-controlled, so we had free rein to pick whatever location we wanted to set up. The Boom Operator role was simple but tiring due to holding up the pole for long periods of time; luckily, the scene wasn't long (1 min, 40 secs), and I did have breaks between takes. I wasn't holding it the entire time.

For the editing of this Recon, I was Online Edit, and my role was minor; it was just colour correction and grade, which wasn't much because the raw footage was already well-lit and composed. I used Avid Media Composer for the colours.
