         <description><![CDATA[<p>Entertainment is a particular industry that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI), and it is interesting because of its well-known presence in modern times. In other words, AI technology has advanced rapidly and is implemented in various forms of amusement including social media, video games, and film, expanding the way people consume or develop different types of content. As a person who regularly participates in these present-day activities, it’s significant to acknowledge the role of AI in this industry and how it improves the user experience.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>The topics discussed will delve into how AI is used in different entertainment platforms and its respective technologies, along with trends, potential limitations, and societal impacts. A few examples regarding AI and correlating technologies (e.g. machine learning) that will be addressed include the algorithm used in TikTok’s feed personalization, how eSports games are analyzed, as well as script writing and editing for movies. It’s crucial to note that while these tools are helpful, they may include some setbacks, such as indirect effects on others or inherent flaws in the system.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>As someone who is going to work in the field of Human Resources, it is important to understand the trajectory of AI in creative usage. If my future career is located in the entertainment industry, it is possible to encounter employees who potentially do not understand the capabilities of AI or may use it unethically. Therefore, AI’s overall applications would be beneficial to understand, especially since entertainment is becoming a predominant form of consumerism and how individuals spend their leisure time.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>TikTok is a popular social media platform that has gained recognition partially for its personalized feed. Specifically, it uses AI technology to provide users with recommended videos based on the content they regularly view or like. Through Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and Automated Decision-Making (ADM) technology, it learns users' watch patterns and suggests TikTok content accordingly (Grandinetti, 2021). As a result, users can readily enjoy videos that are accurately tailored to their personal preferences. However, I believe this can become an issue regarding spreading propaganda, misinformation, and breaching privacy.          <title>Future Trends and Ethical Considerations</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>AI will gradually improve and the entertainment industry will continue to adopt its refined technology, but it’s also important to address the ethical issues that may emerge from these tools. It has proven to play a significant part in developing areas such as social media, film-making, and competitive gaming. Nonetheless, it is also a vital instrument in developing the marketing environment (e.g. advertising), music industry, and overall customer experience. These sectors are constantly evolving and becoming more competitive, thus requiring the use of AI to further expand its industries. Over time, these tools will gain recognition and likely be sought in areas of entertainment that desire multilingual subtitles or support in settling crucial business decisions (Choudhury et al., 2023) to help grow revenue. </p><p><br/></p><p>A few ethical considerations are personally concerning, such as the potential lack of diversity, confusion of sources, as well as a lesser need for traditional human creativity. Due to AI’s expanding knowledge of trends, there may be unexplored, authentic forms of entertainment that aren’t acknowledged. Therefore, its outputs may become repetitive and eventually yield similar results to its previous creations. Furthermore, if trends do not represent the community equally in demographics, then AI will unintentionally fall behind in diversity. The overreliance on these tools may additionally confuse individuals about the source of the content. Suppose a well-known director is associated with the production of a film, it may be confusing where to attribute credit if most of it was produced by AI. Lastly, there could be a potential overreliance on AI, gradually dismissing humans from sharing their creative and original creations.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Societal Impact</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Several societal impacts that arise from using AI in entertainment include: privacy matters, potential plagiarism, bias, and worker replacement. Compared to other industries that implement AI technology, I feel that using AI to generate forms of artistic entertainment (e.g. writing, editing) may hurt other creators if the tool draws inspiration from existing work. This may result in copyright and concerns about whether the tool infringes on artists’ or creators’ rights. Considering that the system gradually gains knowledge from human input, it may also unintentionally perpetuate or recite biased ideas stimulated by users. If news outlets use AI as a source of information, then it is important to consider the possibility of it spreading misinformation or negative influence. Additionally, AI technology can quickly lead to job displacement since it has successfully replicated many jobs in the entertainment industry through automation and generative mechanisms. Lastly, content recommendations produced by AI algorithms require collecting user data, which I believe can breach individuals’ privacy if not fully transparent or audited (Nautiyal et al., 2023).&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>These impacts influence my view of AI in the entertainment industry by creating a more educated perspective of how technological advancements will inevitably have negative qualities. I’ve realized that while AI and its technology are helpful in efficiently completing tasks and inspiring ideas, it’s important to consider that it still has areas of improvement. My initial perspective of AI in the entertainment industry was vague, as it solely appeared to be a helpful tool. Ultimately, I found that setbacks and consequences are inevitable even in the entertainment industry.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Analyzing these various aspects of how AI and its technology are used in the entertainment industry is eye-opening and shows how versatile it can be. Specifically, it’s interesting to discover its presence in the apps I use or gaming competitions and movies I’ve watched. A particular challenge I faced was finding how AI is used in specifically entertainment since many articles generalize the tools’ usage, so I filtered the search and redefined my terms as necessary. I found that AI has made remarkable contributions to the industry by accelerating and optimizing tedious processes, and this research overall allowed me to understand the pros (e.g. utility) and cons (e.g. ethicality) of AI beyond just seeing it as a means of text or image generation. </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

AI can examine previous and current eSports games to determine gameplay outcomes, techniques, and errors. The technologies used in this setting are Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) for processing and communicating game breakdowns and terminology (Kugler, 2022). AI makes it easier to pinpoint mistakes and provide suggestions that a human may not have conceptualized since gameplay moves can be instantaneous. Although AI benefits esports players and viewers through its accurate and speedy feedback/predictions, players might rely too heavily on it to improve.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Filmmaking often requires tedious processes before releasing the final product, including writing the script and editing footage. In recent years, these aspects have been made easier through AI and its technology, Deep Learning (DL), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) that allows AI to study and learn from existing movies (e.g. Star Trek) (Li, 2022). By taking advantage of AI’s efficiency and optimization, movies are likely to be released quicker in addition to saving money and time. Nonetheless, I find that AI's presence in an artistic aspect of entertainment may take away creativity in films or indirectly copy existing work.
