Being a teenager like Leo is pretty hard with all the emotions and physical/mental change he goes through. Generally speaking, Leo sacrifices his friendship (although it's quickly repaired), internal conscience, and the rest of the school to become closer to Stargirl, following his instinct. "We fought daily, Kevin and I. My main job...recruit people for Hot Seat...every day he asked...every day I answered no (paragraph 1-4, pg.13)." This results in Leo believing in himself and caused Leo to fall in love with Stargirl. Not to mention, if Leo hadn't met Stargirl, he wouldn't have had his happiest moments and the one object so dear to him: the porcupine tie. From pages 52-53 and pages 89, Leo explains to us; the readers about how Stargirl was extraordinary, being able to block out the hateful comments and help Leo and everyone in the school and cheer them up. In like manner, Stargirl was the star that lit up Mica High from the dark plain shadows they've been used to.

Some opponents may say that Leo should have just continued with his normal life and ignored Stargirl. This is wrong because if Leo had never interacted with Stargirl there would not be a book in the first place or it would be a completely different plot. Leo also fell in love with Stargirl, and if he were to not take interest in her in the beginning, he would never have fallen for her abnormal personality.

Leo has an internal conflict in this story because he falls in love with star girl who is first considered a "weirdo" to the alumni of Mica High. Leo had to choose between stargirl or everyone else who dislikes her and he chooses her which causes him an internal conflict and people start to dislike him. Leo wanted stargirl to change as a person so that they can still be together and even after her change people still dislike her so she goes back to her old identity which "triggers" leo. Stargirl had told Leo that he didn't have to go to the dance with her if her didn't want to because he did not accept her for who she was. Leo stayed home instead of going to the dance and stargirl went alone looking stunning and everyone started liking her again. The next day Stargirl had disappeared never to be seen again by the students of Mica High. I believe that Leo should not have ignored her and accept her for who she was because he liked her for being different. Leo should not have asked her to change and should not have cared what others thought either because if he would have ignored her his life would be different.

Should Leo have ignored Stargirl and continued on with his regular life? Stargirl is an extraordinary girl. She is very different from everyone else. She was homeschooled until she went to an actual school named Mica High for tenth grade. So, she doesn't know that her personality is very different from the other students. This leads her to be known as a weirdo and not normal at Mica High. Leo Borolock, a kid student at Mica High, discovers Stargirl at his school. He gets interested in her unique personality and soon he falls in love with her.

To conclude, should Leo have ignored Stargirl and continued on with his normal life? The fact that Leo didn't ignore Stargirl and in fact, fell in love with her was a good thing. If Leo did attempt to ignore Stargirl, he wouldn't have been himself at the end and he would be stressed, leading to an internal conflict.
