In my class we are studying amazing women in our lives as part of our March Unit. March is women's history month so we are doing lessons with this as a focus. For this lesson we talked about words that help us describe what makes a person amazing. Each student picked a special women in their lives and then did a bubble map. I modeled on the smart board and created a word bank to help the students.

Several years ago, I receive the complete Thinking Maps training. Today was a nice reminder of the 8 Thinking Maps that I see ACRHS teachers using often in classrooms. In the "30 and session" I realized we use these school wide in our registration notebook. Here is the flow and multi flow Thinking Map that the Math Department uses to show the options and sequencing of courses. Thank you to everyone who attended today.

In the center is the character they will write about, and the outer bubbles are the adjectives that describe the character. The final set of bubbles are examples from the text that support the character descriptions.
These thinking maps are a great scaffold for writing assignments.
