Diaphragmatic Breathing helps reduce stress in many ways. It does this by lowering the cortisol levels in your blood, your blood pressure, and your heart rate, getting you out of the fight or flight mode which stress puts you in. This deep abdominal breathing also encourages the body to relax, which helps you clear your mind. Other effects of this breathing that do not relate to stress is the strengthening of your diaphragm and reducing oxygen demand.
