One of these issues is him/her being a “click bait clout chaser”. He/She uses negative and intriguing thumbnails in his/her content videos, particularly in YouTube.

Last 2020, Buknoy was put on a hot seat by BLINKS and ARMYs, fans of the biggest K-Pop girl and boy groups — BLACKPINK and BTS, respectively.

In Buknoy’s vlogs reacting to the newly dropped music videos of the two K-Pop groups, he/she used a thumbnail that triggers the fans. 

Last June 2020, Buknoy posted in his/her YouTube channel a reaction video of BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ music video. The issue blew up as he/she used a thumbnail with negative statements that says “BAT ANG PANGET???” and “Black pink Ano na???”. Because of these, Filipino BLINKS called him/her out for throwing negative words towards BLACKPINK and for using them for click bait and clout.

In August 2020, Buknoy also posted a video reacting to BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ music video. His/Her clout chasing and click bait were still unstoppable as he/she still used sensitive and harsh statements in the thumbnail on the video. Buknoy still used words like “BAKIT PANGET?” and the worse is describing the said boy group with “BAKLA???” statement notwithstanding himself/herself being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. The Filipino fans did not tolerate this toxic behavior of Buknoy and called him/her out for also using BTS in clout chasing and click baiting.

In Buknoy’s clickbait issues, Filipino BLINKS and ARMYs, did not tolerate that kind of behavior that involved negativities and was just for fame.

The fans also live by their commitment “to protect our idols at all cost”.  These fans, being the biggest and most powerful fandom of the biggest K-Pop girl and boy group in the world, just prove how to get rid of click baits that cultivate hate culture. 

Now, those videos of Buknoy were either deleted or hidden in his/her YouTube channel.

In creating a social media content, using click baits is a common and effective technique to gain more audiences. Click baits use a curiosity gap that can either attract or tricks the consumers to click on the contents.

Click baiting is undeniably useful and viable but at the same time it is also harmful and misleading. The latter is something that must not be tolerated.

In this times wherein most people are using the social media, everyone must be more knowledgeable and vigilant enough. As cliché as it might be, always remember to “think before you click”.

The thumbnail plainly shows that they intended to publicize the fact that Jordyn Woods and Kylie Jenner used to date, which is definitely for clout and to get people to click and watch the video. When you click the video, The whole eight minutes of the said video is composed of speculations with no concrete evidence. This YouTube channel is well-known for its clickbait celebrity videos and false thumbnails designed to entice users to click on them in order to increase advertising revenue. They picked prominent celebrities as their major subject since their supporters want to relate to them and feel linked to them, and they certainly grab more attention.

Clickbait may appear to be harmless, but it is, to be honest, a waste of time. Spending a reasonable amount of time reading or watching the specified article or video only to be disappointed since the payout isn't quite as nice as it appears in the thumbnail. Let us all be cautious. Let's all be vigilant. If it sounds too outlandish to be true, it might be just a clickbait.

-EVALUATING THE IMAGE BY-

CONTENT ANALYSIS- From the image that has been presented, there is a girl in doubt, maybe she’s looking for someone to unlock the riddles which was evident from the picture. 

VISUAL ANALYSIS- The image of the girl is created in a cartoon-childlike way as well as the locks. The dominant background color is yellow. This signifies simplicity in a way that it can attract mostly kids. 

CONTEXTUAL INFORMATION- The headline of the image served all the purpose as it talks about how many people did not answer the riddle correctly and asked about can you solve the said riddles which most of the people couldn’t. This kind of clickbait influences our minds on how we think that will initially result in what will be our next move. “Are we gonna solve this riddle that others can’t? If 90% of the people cannot answer this, am I a genius?”. These are the basic questions that pop out in our minds if we see this kind of click baits. 

IMAGE SOURCE- I found this image on google after searching clickbait headlines but I also have seen these many times when I’m scrolling on different social media sites. Sometimes, I click it to know if the riddles are that hard but it’s definitely not. It really is a clickbait for the people to engage more in that kind of game and more and more people will install the said app. 

TECHNICAL QUALITY-  Although the dominant color of the image is yellow, it can attract more kids since yellow is a light and bright color that kids usually love. The image is not that small or large, it is in its normal size that can easily be visualized by the viewers. 

Clickbait like this can help us promote our products to boost engagements and many people would love to play because it’s fun and captivating. However, there are negative and positive clickbait that circulate in many social media platforms but this is somehow a part of the many positive click baits since it will make you believe that you are intelligent if you have the ability to answer the riddle and encourage yourself to study and play more of it. We cannot argue that riddles can make our brain critically analyze situations and by that it will definitely improve our intellect. 

As we can see, its contextual information is eye-catching. Readers can think of different ideas such as “what are these tricks?”, “is it a beauty product?” and/or “the natural ways to look young”. Using the image of a beautiful woman or we can conclude one of the supermodels, shows that she might apply those tricks because she still looks young.

 I found this image in google and from the word itself “click-bait”, its main purpose is to attract attention or encourage people - the netizens to click something such as the link that might give them half-truth information or nonsense information at all. 

Different online platforms like social media are tricky. Let us be wise enough in clicking and believing information; let us be a literate individual.

      EVALUATING THE IMAGE THROUGH

From the picture, we’ve seen a foreigner giving his opinion on the local coconut wine of the Filipinos.

The simplicity of the picture was there, it’s just a foreigner holding the coconut wine.

The title of the video really captured the attentions of the Filipinos since we are easily indulge in popularity. It was already proven by many studies that most of the foreign vloggers use Filipino to gain viewers on their videos.

I found this image on twitter when it got my attention the most of the foreign vloggers really visit Philippines to learn our cultures, the locality and etc. and then uses the Filipinos to be the click bait on their video.

The picture may seem distorted but most vlogger uses it as a strategy to ring their curiosity and be a click bait.

There is nothing wrong on promoting one’s culture in a different social media platform, what’s wrong is giving a false information which we clearly saw in the picture that it is not a wine. Perhaps, it is a coconut vinegar. Moreover, we should not be a victim of click baits from foreign vloggers, instead let us support local vloggers.

There are still many articles on the internet that use images of the President wearing a military uniform as the headline with a caption that he refuses to surrender. The use of these images were irrelevant to what is currently happening in the country. They mislead the public to think that the President joined the military to fight against Russia. It is true that the President chose to stay in Kyiv despite the attack of the Russian soldiers but the images that are used in the article had nothing to do with the content. The misuse of images in a headline is called click baiting to attack the viewers in the article. It interests the viewers in reading the article because of the image that shows the courageous act of the President. Click baiting in an article is used to attract readers to visit their website and gain revenues from the advertisements. When reading an article it is extremely important to undergo verification of the content, not only the text but also the images that are used.
