<description>How could we improve the standard protocol method of delivering instruction for students next year.
How can you incorporate literacy skills into your core classes next year?
What can our school do to help children become better readers?

<title>Stacey Pierce-This is a difficult question to answer because I feel that everyone is working so hard into their everyday teaching practices. We can continue to do tutoring, interventions and continue read alouds. Suggestions: Give students books or possibly have a give away book zone. not in the media center because I don&#39;t want to give mixed ideas about giving books away.</title>

<title>Connie Ashley: 1. Continue with tutors. Continue with first grade class/teacher interventions. 2. Reading a book to classes that correlate with lessons being taught in music, art, p.e.... will promote literacy! 3. I think Read To&#39;s are sooooo important! Maybe even a drop everything and read time school wide???</title>

<title>J. Winslow - 1. Incorporate more &quot;team teaching&quot; - Possibly allow kids that need &quot;extra&quot; help be pulled for a few minutes each week to receive help from a cooperating teacher from the same grade level while the other grade level teacher is working with the rest. Obviously this would need to take place with an Assistant also due to the possibility of high numbers. Teachers could rotate the schedule to accommodate. 2. In PE I have students count out loud their exercises. Sometimes we start at 1 and other times it may be something random. For example, &quot;Count jumping jacks #80-100.&quot; It&#39;s possible we could also incorporate word building or letter sounds along with number skills. 3. Continue to teach the basics, have students read out loud to each other and encourage and hold parents more accountable to practice reading at home.</title>

<title>R. Thach I think we need to continue tutoring and the intervention program. However, I think we need more input from from the teachers that work with our students on a daily basis. I can find out what books they are reading in class and choose activities that are related to those books. Continue to teach the fundamentals that are necessary for students to become good readers. Encourage more community involvement.</title>
