The most obvious signs of change were the rise of a consumer-oriented economy and of mass entertainment, which helped to bring about a "revolution in morals and manners." Sexual mores, gender roles, hair styles, and dress all changed profoundly during the 1920s.

The flapper style was a popular style of women in the 1920s. Everyday dresses for most women were casual and typically homemade. House dresses, or day dresses, were loose, pullover, tubular style dresses with a dropped waist and shorter hemline.

Another big thing that happened in the "Roaring Twenties was that Americans owned cars, radios, and telephones for the first time. However, the 1920s weren't only good things there were negatives like an extreme contradiction. The unmatched prosperity and cultural advancement were accompanied by intense social unrest and reaction. The same decade that bore witness to urbanism and modernism also introduced the Ku Klux Klan, Prohibition, nativism, and religious fundamentalism. The 1920s was definitely a major decade for America in both good and bad ways if we never had this major decade America would never have been the same.
