No More Boomerang is a poem written by Oodgeroo Noonuccal, an Aboriginal woman also known as Kate Walker, in 1966.  Kate was an Aboriginal activist and the first Aboriginal woman to publish a book of verse.  The poem No More Boomerang speaks of how life used to be for the Aboriginal people before the white invasion, and how it changed for the worse.  Throughout the poem, you can feel a strong sense of grief for a past long lost.

One of the techniques Oodgeroo uses throughout the poem is repetition, particularly of the words no more.  This repetition adds to the strong feeling of loss conveyed in the poem over what once was and is now gone.

No more firesticks
That made the whites scoff.
Now all electric,
And no better off.

The example shows the use of the words no more.  The aboriginal people used firesticks to make fire, but the whites scoffed at this; they thought it was a primitive way of doing things and that they themselves were much better than the Aborigines, because they had electricity.  Oodgeroo replies by saying that we are no better off.  She scoffs at the whites in return; she herself would have preferred to keep the firesticks.

Oodgeroo's poem shows a strong disdain for the white invaders and their ways.  She believes that they old ways were bettter, and the poem shows a strong longing and grief for the way things were.

Another strong feature in Oodgeroo Noonuccal's poem No More Boomerang is anger. Throughout the poem she shows how angry she is at the treatment of her Aboriginal people at the hands of the white invaders.

One of the techniques Oodgeroo uses to express this anger, is by comparison though  metaphor.  She uses this technique to show first how it was, and then how it is now.

No more sharing
What the hunter brings.
Now we work for money,
Then pay it back for things.

No more sharing what the hunter brings refers to the communal living the Aborigines enjoyed.  Men would go hunting for meat, and all the food was shared equally.  These days, aboriginal people have to work for money, then pay it back for things.  Not only do they no longer go hunting, they have to work for the white man and use the money they earn to pay for goods sold by the white man.
