Ex: ticking clock.
Vision- Level of light. ex: measuring the distance at which a participant can detect the presence of a candle flame in the dark.
Smell- Smallest concentration that a person can smell. smallest amount of perfume that a subject is able to smell in a large room.
touch- smallest amount of touch person can feel. Ex: feeling the wing of a bee on your cheek.
taste- Minimum amount of taste needed to detect its presence.

~Subliminal messaging is is a signal or message designed to pass below (sub) the normal limits of perception

~Yes subliminal messaging is real
~They have been used in ads in the past. In the middle of a movie, there would be words that appeared for a single frame, long enough for the subconscious to pick up, but too short for the viewer to be aware of it.
~This is not actually illegal, it is just the country's advertising and broadcasting regulatory agencies that deal with the topic and its impact on the public
~This could cause problems in society because it could give power to the people that use this process to gain control or influence people.

the smallest amount by which two sensory stimuli can differ in order for an individual to perceive them as different.
Websters Law- also called Weber-Fechner law, historically important psychological law quantifying the perception of change in a given stimulus. The law states that the change in a stimulus that will be just noticeable is a constant ratio of the original stimulus.

provides a precise language and graphic notation for analyzing decision making in the presence of uncertainty. The general approach of signal detection theory has direct application for us in terms of sensory experiments. But it also offers a way to analyze many different kinds of decision problems.
It says the absolute threshold ins't the same for everyone.
