Have a happy world teachers day. I am writing this to you to reach out and celebrate how awesome you are. You have given me support when I needed it, gave me challenges to overcome and made me realise how special I am. Thank you for putting so much dedication into your work and you have well and truly helped me become a great person, a true grade 6, getting ready for high school. You have honed my talents, bringing the best out of me. This year it has been a pleasure learning with you Miss Goward. I love your organised and decorative soul, your sarcastic and social spirit inspires me and those around you. You are a beautiful person, Miss Goward. You make everybody’s minds bloom. Thank you for holding my hand.

It is from bone-dry dust,

That wildflowers truly grow,

It is through times both good and bad,

That a single dandelion is sown.

Soon emerges the flush of green,

And buds embroidered in gold,

And at long last,

In an effusive burst of joyful hope,

The mellow blooms flare open,

As a golden head of fiery awe,

Holding the uplifting radiance of the sun.

Arising to the stir of dawn, 

You rise above dull hues of dirt,

And bestow upon deathly greys beneath,

A worldly splash of once lost colour.

You are the streak of chance - new beginnings,

To a desolate land of nowhere. 

Yet it is only a matter of days,

Until you mature into a heavenly white, 

As if a celestial hand reaching down,  

Paints your fiery gold to a sparkling silver,

No lesser in your true worth - in fact, more…

The moon is always there for us,

Teaching us the ways of life

And what we need to learn and grow.

Guiding our lives and futures to something desired.

You stand up high among 

Hail, rain and shine - all three.

Never giving up in your duties,

Even when we are all far apart,

Isolated, or coping to shake off

The invisible weights which sometimes

Pull us down, down down… 

Amid a sea of stars on an inky sky,

She shines a warm, enlightening grey,

And so do you.

I watch along as the moon gently fractures,

Into a million stars all glistening bright,

Entwined with hope and happiness,

To root in the depths of our soul

And empower us and our lives.

Many a day does a child eagerly blow

On the much loved tuft of feathery bristles,

Adhered to the dandelion stem. 

Many a day do these bristles soar,

Like shooting stars through the sky,

Far, far away with the breeze,

High o’er vast hills and vales.

And so do your wise words and loving kindness disperse,

Through lit networks of cities, near and afar.

The heart of this dandelion, dearest of all,

Is one we all look up to as the sun, moon and stars -

All in one.

In this single dandelion.
