notes:
glasses trick works to deceive child
if something is spaced out it is bigger (it takes up more space)
you only see what I see

Selfish bastards..
The kids start to develop reason but that is kind of thrown out the window because egocentrism and fantasy (animism) take up much or most of their thought processes.Going from a phystical thought to a mental one is out of their abilities at this point because they have, up til recently, only been focusing on the behaviors of actions.
The video doesn't mention "the intuitive thought substage"The book calls this "preoperational thought" which, if you just look at that first word, makes it sound like the reverse of what is actually going on. When I think(or rather before this assignment so "when I thought", but I'll just use literary present tense to ease the confusion)"preoperational" I hear "pre" and "operate" and assume it is a period before they are able to function but at this point of development they have already developed significantly compared to their younger counterparts.

notes:
no the juice is equal
they can't follow along with hypothetical situations because they just learned to take everything literally
takeaway:
These kids in the video were super cocky about knowing what we consider to be "common knowledge/sense". At least they grew out of the selfish sentiment that everything revolves around them.

"because the rule says" people in this group can think "outside the box" and grasp abstract concepts.

10:40 pm 4/11/2017
I just tested three different age groups with the phrases "Rule: If you hit a glass with a feather, the glass will break. Don hits the glass with a feather, what happens to the glass?"
Group 1: sister Sophia age(13)
I presented the problem and she saw the connection between the two phrases but immediately began to question the validity and reasoning behind it. FAILED>
Group 2: mother, Fatima age (44)
As I did previously.
Response was a confused look followed by "that doesn't make sense, feathers can't break glasses"
FAILED>
Group 3: grandmother, Connie (72)
As I did with the other two.(none could hear the others responses)
"The glass broke".
PASSED>
Conclusion: Although two participants failed the simulation it does not mean that they are stuck in the concrete operational stage because they were able to show critical thinking that is expected at their respective ages.(Ask a bunch of questions to better make sense of the problem)

But I got carried away. Turns out I really enjoy Piaget's Stages of Development. There are...a lot of points to cover but of course the two most important would have to revolve around our current age group of focus: Pre Operational, and the group we have yet to tackle: the Concrete Operational.
