         <title>BYOT can help students achieve the standards of Language Arts in 6th grade by affording the students the opportunity to access evidence-based sources to support their inferences. After supporting their ideas, students are then able to share in a collaborative environment via discussion boards or blogs that provide an authentic experience. Students are able to use different means such as video creation or voice recording to meet the standards of Integration of Knowledge and Ideas:CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.6.7Integrate information presented in different media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as in words to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue.</title>

         <title>In the 7th
grade health curriculum, students need to analyze media influences on alcohol
use. This standard could easily be achieved through the use of technology.
Students view a variety of media formats and analyze them for the message they
are sending regarding alcohol and alcohol use. Next year, I am hoping to
implement a discussion board where students can post their own media source for
the class to analyze and discuss.&amp;nbsp;</title>

         <title>One of the 8 mathematical practices is &quot;Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.&quot;&amp;nbsp; As students explore new concepts in mathematics, they can share their ideas and thought processes.&amp;nbsp; How can this problem be represented with an equation?&amp;nbsp; How can you begin to justify this proof?&amp;nbsp; What is the best way to solve this problem?&amp;nbsp; By having students post their solutions, then critique the reasoning of others, they will learn new approaches to the same problem and troubleshoot errors in the thought process.&amp;nbsp; This is a great way to clear up misunderstandings.</title>

         <title>The biggest help from BYOT towards student achievement is instant feedback and assistance that technology can give students. The ability for students to receive timely feedback or gain access to a resource to help them complete a task is critical for students to maintain a positive attitude and a willingness to continue with difficult tasks by themselves.</title>

         <title>New NGSS standards encourage the creation of models as a learning assessment.  For example, in space science students are expected to generate a model of the relative positions of the Earth, moon, and Sun during an eclipse.  This type of modeling can be done in a two-dimensional format but could be more visually effective utilizing a technology application such as scratch.mit.edu or SketchUp.com.</title>

         <title>The ability for a student to use one of their most comfortable tools (whatever device they bring from home) to assist their learning makes perfect sense. BYOT, if used correctly, should advance most every classroom that it is offered in. </title>

         <title>When working with the Common Core Standards there is a concern for students who consistently read well below grade level. Once students are in High School there are not a lot of programs that the students see lager gains to improve reading skills. BYOT would be beneficial if it can engage the students and help them with the basic reading skills they need.</title>
