One of the biggest takeaways was the idea of blending technology with hands on activities. 

When I was teaching, I would take indicators from the curriculum and literally design projects around it. The students would then be required to teach the students that particular indicator. One time in class I had QR codes all over the room that, when scanned, revealed different math problems to be solved. Students carried a worksheet or whiteboard with them and could only move to the next sheet once the problem was solved. I made random trivia questions in advance (that have nothing to do with the content). The first team to get the correct answer gets the opportunity to earn an extra point by answering the trivia question correctly.
